Today's students interact with many different audio and compositional technologies as well as
interactive games. These technological tools require students' integrated learning habits such as audio,
visual and kinaesthetic processes which are retrieved at a much quicker rate. Therefore, students'
learning habits are changing because of these new learning modalities which they bring back to the
music classroom. Exposure to certain learning contexts and/or musical experiences also strengthens
certain learning modalities in the early and middle stages of a students' musical learning habits.
Therefore, this course focuses on teaching integrated musical strategies required to learn how to
improvise and compose in a model stages approach, much like the acquisition of language, while
strengthening other areas of music learning. These integrated strategies are also geared to either the
aural, visual or kinaesthetically predominant learner. This course is designed for stages 4-5.
