 Popcorn Throw
Notes:
Basic stitches are combined in a special way to create a
simple but sweet throw with a pop of texture in the wide
border, suitable for adults and kiddos alike!

The striking border is worked as you go, which means the

first and last group of rows are entirely the border stitch,
while the body of the throw has each row starting and ending
with the border stitch. It works up quickly and is easy to
memorize.

Popcorn Stitch (PC): Work 5 DC in same st, remove hook,

insert hook in first DC of the 5-DC group and draw lp
through, pull snug, ch 1 tightly to secure.

DIRECTIONS
Ch 162.
Row 1 (RS): Work PC in 5th ch from hook (first 3 ch count as
first DC throughout), [DC in each of next 3 chs, work PC in
next ch] across, DC in last ch, turn. 40 PC, 119 DC.
Row 2 (WS): Ch 1, SC in each DC and PC across, turn. 159 SC.
Row 3: Ch 3 (count as first DC throughout), DC in each of
first 2 sts, [work PC in next st, DC in each of next 3 sts]
across, turn. 39 PC, 120 DC.
Row 4: Rep Row 2. 159 SC.
Row 5: Ch 3, [work PC in next st, DC in each of next 3 sts]
across to last 2 sts, work PC in next st, DC in last st, turn.
Rows 6-13: Rep Rows 2-5 twice.
Row 14: Rep Row 2.
Row 15 (RS): Ch 3, DC in each of first 2 sts, [work PC in next
st, DC in each of next 3 sts] 4 times, work PC in next st, DC
in each of next 119 sts, [work PC in next st, DC in each of
next 3 sts] 5 times, turn. 5 PC each at beg and end of row.
Row 16: Rep Row 2.
Row 17: Ch 3, [work PC in next st, DC in each of next 3 sts] 4
times, work PC in next st, DC in each of next 123 sts, [work
PC in next st, DC in each of next 3 sts] 4 times, work PC in
next st, DC in last st, turn.
Row 18: Rep Row 2.
Rows 19-167: Rep Rows 15-18 thirty-six times, then rep Rows
15-17 once more.
Rows 168-181: Rep Rows 2-5 three times, then rep Rows 2-3
once more. Do not fasten off. Turn to work down side of blanket.
Edging
With RS facing, ch 1, SC evenly around the edge of blanket,
working (SC, ch 1, SC) in each corner; join with sl st in first
SC. Fasten off.
Finishing
Weave in ends, wash and block.
