Year 2019-20

TATA Motors Limited has a six branched CSR strategy starting from prenatal care to employment.
The six tenets of TATA Motors' CSR strategy are adopting human life cycle approach, upstream
& downstream linkage, philosophy of more from less for more, leveraging all stakeholders,
measuring social capital, and leveraging technology.
In FY 2019-20 TATA Motors Limited touched and changed 830300 lives out of which 41% belong
to the SC and ST communities.

Major CSR programmes are:


1. Aarogya
This is the healthcare programme addressing malnutrition, raising awareness and delivering
preventive care. It impacted 3,99,619 lives and 74% of malnourished children became healthy.
2.Vidyadhanam
This initiative with its goals of holistic education and financial support helped more than 1.5 lakh
students. 41% of these students scored above 1st division and 80% students passed Xth board
exams.
3.Kaushalya
Kaushalya programme skilled 1,17,474 people through vocational training, skill development,
professional courses and women empowerment. Out of all these people 63% found employment
and increased their annual family income by ₹1 lakh.
4. Vasundhara
This is a programme dealing with environmental issues and planting trees.
Around 1,17,464 saplings were planted, out of which 95% were indigenous species and this
programme reached to over 90,000 people.
5.Amrutdhara
A national drinking water project with improved the lives of 25000 communities. This progammme
insured 30L of water within 200m of place of residence.
6. Aadhar
A development programme focused on rural and tribal communities. More than 41% of CSR
beneficiaries belong to ST& SC communities and 12% of TATA's workforce constitute of
employees from ST&SC categories.
7.Seva
A volunteering project in which 53% employees volunteered for more than 1.1 lakh hours during
FY 2019-20.
8. Disaster management programmes
-Drought Resistant Villages programme
- Maharashtra Flood Response Programme that reached 45000 lives
-COVID-19 relief programme in which relief was supplied to 13199 communities.
YEAR 2018-19

The CSR programmes of the year 2018-19 impacted more than 7 Lakh lives, out of
which 40% of total beneficiaries were given to ST&SC communities.

Contribution to the main four areas of CSR, Education, Employability, Health and Environment
were as follows:
● Through VIDYADHANAM, the educational programme which aimed to improve academic
performance and provide financial aid benefitted over 1 lakh 40 thousand students. Over
1600 scholarships were sanctioned and thousands of students were given coaching
classes.
● AAROGYA, the initiative with goals of addressing malnutrition and healthcare issues.
3,81,437 lives benefitted from this programme and over 90% acute undernourished
children treated by this initiative became healthy. Significant reduction in diseases like
dysentery was brought and over 2 lakh villagers got access to clean drinking water.
Preventive and curative healthcare awareness was spread among people.
● In the sectors of auto trades, non-auto trades and agricultural & allied activities, over
1,00,000 were trained under the initiative of KAUSHALYA. Out of 1 lakh 40% were people
from ST&SC communities. And over 56% young people who were trained got employment
and 4% started their own employment which lead to an increase of 1 lakh rupees in annual
income.
● VASUNDHARA, an environment based programmes with objectives of planting saplings
and raising environment awareness through which over 11lakh saplings were planted and
lives of 3000 tribal communities were improved. An innovation of health and enviornment
friendly cooking stoves was adopted by 9300+ families spread across 532 villages. This
led to reduction in demand of wood and sequestration of 13 tons of carbon dioxide with
an annual increment of INR 13,000 in family income.
● Other than these four major categories, an initiative dedicated to ST&SC communities and
rural people called AADHAR improved lives of 1,88,091 people. And, under the
volunteering initiative SEVA 40% of total workforce of TATA which is 10500 employees
invested 60,000 hours in social development.
YEAR 2017-18

CSR projects of 2017 touched over 6Lakh lives and 40 % of the budget was dedicated to the
upliftment of ST&SC categories. This year strategies were mainly based on four pillars Health,
Education, Employability and Environment.

Highlights of the four pillars of CSR:

1. Health initiative: AAROGYA


This initiative impacted over 3,70,700 lives by addressing malnutrition and health issues.
89% of malnourished children became healthy and a visible impact on health awareness
was seen.

2. Education initiative: VIDYADHANAM


It was an initiative focused on education and through this 9,612 scholarships worth INR
25,000/year were sanctioned and over 1 lakh students benefitted from this. Special coaching was
given to over 28,000 students which improved their academic performance.

3. Employability initiative: KAUSHALYA


Over 81,000 people were trained and skilled, out of which 84% people got placed, 2% became
self-employed and 14% chose to pursue higher education. This programme also focused on
women empowerment and introduced women to the male dominated work and industries.
Agricultural and allied training was given to more than 1400 people.

4. Environment initiative: VASUNDHARA


This was an initiative based on spreading environment awareness and increasing green
cover by plant saplings of trees.
Over 1lakh saplings 90% of which were indigenous species were planted and more than
50,000 people were involved. An environment Olympiad was conducted in which 25,000
children participated including more than 50%girls.

- Other than these CSR programmes two more programmes were started:
AADHAR- It was an initiative dedicated to rural and tribal people, and
SEVA - a volunteering project of TATA Motors Limited.
