This study aims to find out the level of satisfaction on the use of turnstile of the Grade 7
students of Our Lady of Peace School. Particularly the study would like to answer the following
questions:
1.1 Age
1.2 Sex
Points of Discussion:
CHAPTER 2
METHODOLOGY OF THE STUDY
This chapter contains the research design used and discusses the procedure for data
RESEARCH DESIGN
Sample Research Design: This study used a descriptive method under a qualitative
research design to describe and evaluate the extent of the satisfaction, from a specific population,
with the use of the turnstiles in monitoring their attendance. The researchers also used
descriptive research for more accurate understanding on different variables related to the study
about turnstiles. The researchers used survey questionnaire as an instrument to gather data.
Survey questionnaires were given to the 60 students randomly selected out of the total 229 Grade
7 students. The researchers tallied the data from the respondents and get the percentage.
Sample Data Gathering Procedure: The study was conducted within the school year
2016-2017 among the grade 7 students of Our Lady of Peace School, Antipolo City.
The researchers made a formal letter to the subject teachers and the assistant principal for
permission to administer the questionnaire. Upon the approval, the questionnaires were
respondents. Since the Grade 7 level has 6 sections, the researchers randomly selected 10
respondents each section. The names of the respondents are strictly confidential. Then, the
researchers classified the overall data according to the level of satisfaction for attendance
monitoring and security of the Grade 7 students of Our Lady of Peace School. The researchers

RESULTS AND DISCUSSIONS
Gender Frequency Percentage
Male 21 35%
Female 39 65%
Sample Results and Discussions: This chapter contains the interpreted and analyzed data
conducted from the Grade 7 students of Our Lady of Peace School of the level of satisfaction in
Table 1 shows the profile of the respondents, 35 % of the students who answered the
survey questionnaire are male. 65% of the students are female. 6.67 % who answered the
questionnaire are 12 years old, 83.33 % were 13 years old, and 10 % are 14 years old.
Table 2 represents the results of the survey. 60 participants answered the 10 questions
given by the researchers. If they strongly agree, agree, disagree or strongly disagree on the
statement.
Based on the statement number one, 36 (60%) of the students agree that, turnstile
monitors the students’ attendance, while the lowest percentage is 1 (2%) said that they disagree.
This means that the turnstile tracks the students’ attendance. Aside from the class secretary
monitors the attendance, this technology or the turnstile helps in monitoring the attendance of the
students. It audits the student who enters the school neither early nor late.
Based on the statement number two, 31 (52%) agree while 1 (2%) disagree on the
statement. It shows that, it prevents unknown person to enter the school campus. Unknown
person can’t enter the school premises because he / she don’t have the access to enter the school.
With the use of the identification card, you can have the permission to come in school.
Based on the statement number three states that, turnstile was a cause of delay because of
its turning mechanism/turnstile arm. Highest percentage 30 (50%) disagree while the lowest 2
(3%) strongly agree. It doesn’t waste time because it organizes the students to come in the school
one by one. It also teaches them to be in order and in harmony. It practices them to be more
disciplined.
Based on the statement number four, 36 (60%) strongly agree on the statement and 3
(5%) strongly disagree on the statement. The statement is, encourage students’ not to cut class.
The turnstile monitors the time they entered so they are not allowed to cut their class because it
can easily see that they entered the school but did not attend the class.
Based on the statement number five states that, Turnstile is beneficial to schools’ security
system. 18 (30%) agreed on the statement while 11 (18%) disagreed. It shows that, it is
beneficial especially on the school security system. Also the school doesn’t need much of
Based on the statement number six, turnstile makes me feel safe and secured. 30 (50%)
students agree on the statement and 2 (3%) disagree/strongly disagree. The turnstile helps the
security by not allowing the intruders to enter the school. The identification card that they school
gave, is the one giving access to the students, teachers, other personnel to come in school.
Based on the statement number seven, the messages were delayed. 24 (40%) agree and 6
(10%) strongly disagree. This statement shows that the turnstile system needs improvement
because one of its main functions is alerting parents about their children’s attendance. The
Based on the statement number eight, 38 (63%) agree on the statement and 3 (5%)
disagree / strongly disagree. This states that, turnstile needs more improvement in terms of
reliability. Just like statement number seven, the turnstiles sometimes have problems about
sending messages and need changes to satisfy the insecurities of the school.
Based on the statement number nine, a cause of delay because of traffic of the students.
37 (61%) agree and 1 (2%) disagree on the statement. This statement shows that when many
students entered the school, they began to queue up on swiping their ID’s.
Based on the statement number ten, highest percentage 29 (48%) agree on the statement
while 2 (3%) disagree. It states that, the students were satisfied on the turnstile system. They feel
more protected from danger because of the security system in Our Lady of Peace School. It
CHAPTER 4
CONCLUSIONS
Sample Conclusions:
1. Most of the participants were around 13 to 14 years of age. Majority of them were female
(65%) while the male ranges only in 35%. This is the range of ages where the parents are
more worried.
2. The parents are receiving messages when the students tap their IDs on the turnstiles.
Therefore, the turnstile really does monitor the attendance of the Grade 7 students of Our
Lady of Peace School even when the messages are received later than it should be.
3. According to the Grade 7 students, 50 % of them agreed that they feel safe and secured
with the turnstiles installed at the entrance of the school while 3% of them think that
turnstiles weren’t enough to protect them. Turnstiles can help prevent unknown people
enter the school, and they can only enter if they informed the guard about their presence.
The researchers conclude that the turnstiles can protect the students from actual danger,
but if the students caused harm to others, it can’t protect them from consequences.
4. Based on our survey, 27% agree that their parents receive were always delayed or they
never receive any messages at all while 10 % of them disagreed. It means that not only
parents were affected by this, but it also makes the students worry in what they should
answer if the parents ask why the messages were always delayed. They can even doubt if
their children really go to school or not. The researchers conclude that the turnstiles need
more improvement, specifically the time when the parents should receive the messages.
5. Based on the answers of the Grade 7 students to our survey questions, 44% of them
strongly agreed that they were satisfied in using the turnstiles in entering and leaving the
school while 5% of them disagreed. The researchers therefore concluded that majority of
the students were satisfied on the turnstile system of Our Lady of Peace School, but there
are some that are not satisfied with the turnstile systems’ performance.
RECOMMENDATIONS
Sample Recommendations:
1. Since girls mostly answered the survey questionnaires, the researchers were
recommending that equal number of respondents in terms of gender would participate in the
study to further justify the research and come up with a more reliable result. In this manner, the
researcher would verify whether the tapping of ID in turnstile is being followed in entering and
2. This research proved that having turnstile system helps a lot in students’ security and
helps the teachers, especially the class advisers as well as the parents in monitoring attendance
3. The researchers recommend that a longer time must be given in conducting the
research for a more decent and valid research that would be able to help researchers for future
studies.
4. The researchers would recommend that the school needs to give a close attention in
maintaining in the turnstiles system. Turnstile system needs consistency in terms of its functional
performance to be reliable tool in monitoring students’ attendance and for students’ security.
5. Given that the turnstiles are available only to some school with the results of this study
on the level of satisfaction on the use of the turnstile system in monitoring students’ attendance
and security, this would help in the decision making of other companies, schools, and institutions
