1. Explain comprehensively Meier's distinction of the "real Jesus" and the "historical Jesus".
(Minimum of 10 sentences, maximum of 15)
2. According to Meier, he does not prefer using in his work the classical German distinction of
"historical"(historisch) from "historic"(geschichtlich), why? Explain comprehensively. (Minimum of 8
sentences, maximum of 15)

1. John Meier makes a distinction between the historical Jesus and the true Jesus. After his death, Jesus
claims that his resurrection cannot belong to the historical Jesus since that event is not available to the
public in principle. He was a Jewish preacher and religious leader in the first century. Most Christians
believe Jesus is God's son and the long-awaited messiah who was predicted in the Hebrew Bible. Almost
all modern antiquity academics accept that Jesus was a historical figure. The historical Jesus is referred
to as "Historical Jesus."Jesus lived in a variety of cultural settings. The method of historical investigation

Historians have reached a consensus. Meier admits that this approach just produces a profile. Jesus'
mission and death are shown in this painting. Almost all historians accept that there was a historical
Jesus. Attempts to disprove his historicity have always been rejected as a fad. Gerald O'Collins' work
supports Meier's idea in the scholarly mainstream. While the resurrection of Jesus is a genuine event, it
is not a space-time event, according to this argument. Be a result, it should not be referred to as
historical.

2. "As for the meaning of the distinction, the term "historical" or historisch refers to the dry bare bones
of knowledge about the past, with the researcher excluding any possible relevance to or influence on
our present-day life and quest for meaning; the term "historic" or geschichtlich, on the other hand,
refers to the past as it is meaningful and challenging, engaging and thought-provoking for modern men
and women." The term "historical" refers to the basic bones of historical knowledge. The researchers
began by considering any conceivable connection to or influence on our daily lives and desire for
meaning. The historic contrast relates to the past as it is important and challenging. In theory, this
distinction between historical and historic can be applied to Jesus just as easily as it can to any other
great historical figure.
