❖ “Aah, de peaceful country”,
Rowan say. He face light up
brighter dan a bulb. Rowan start
tuh take pics.

❖ De countryside had a sign dat
say: Clifton Hill county. It had
all Rowan favorite fruit trees.
Dere was banana, mango, plum
and best of all, sugar cane.
Sweet, sweet sugar cane.

❖ De ants charge straight for de
picnic mat but when dey reach,
dere was nuttin’ left to eat.

About De Author
Rowan Nicholas Mc Ewen is a seven-year-old boy who loves reading. He
was born in England, but spent his very early childhood in his parents’ home
country of Trinidad and Tobago.
He lived in Mumbai, India for three years and currently resides in Tripoli,
Libya. One of his favorite stories is ‘Tantie At De Oval’ which inspired him to write
this story.
He has also written ‘The Star Trumpet’, ‘How To Make A Cup Of Hot Cocoa’
and a newsletter for children, The KiDs Pages.
