Use a pocket alarm clock or wristwatch to set yourself alarms every 15 minutes
one working day. Write down exactly what you are doing. How surprising is it?

I notice that every 15 minutes I end up with two tasks, and every time I do,
I heard the alarm automatic so I turned off the alarm and set one again 15
minutes of alarm. I think this kind of work will help me to finish all my work at
home especially my homework. But everyone is tired because of you the task
needs to be done to get to the next task.
2. Comment on the user of color in the Alarm Control, Emergency Shutdown and
Emergency Confirm panels (Figure CS.2 – for figures, see the web scenario).

Alarm State
The system can be in one of three alarm states: GREEN, AMBER or RED.
(v) GREEN on alarm the state means everything is working normally (vi) The
AMBER alarm state is for when there is a small problem with reactor operation.
Workers at the reactor area were warned and proceeded be careful, but no
external services are involved. (vii) RED alarm state is raised when the reactor
runs outside the normal parameters and tends to be external contamination.
Police and other emergency services are alerted. Often the state of AMBER is
raised once or twice a week and red state only a few times a year (so far only
false alarms!). Raising the RED alarm does not necessarily cause great
inconvenience and cost both to the station staff and the external emergency
services.

Emergency Shutdown
When there is a very serious problem, the operator can press the big red
button labeled START SHUTDOWN IMMEDIATELY in the Emergency Shutdown
panel, which will start an emergency shutdown. It needs to be confirmed by
pressing the CONFIRM button on Emergency Confirmation Panel. (This is to
prevent accidental closure of the plant.) The CONFIRM The button is usually
green, but glows red after the IMMEDIATE SHUTDOWN STARTS the button is
pressed to remind the operator. Emergency shutdown causes explosive bolts
blow the drive control rods into the reactor to completely stop the nuclear
reaction. Starting again the reactor after an emergency shutdown can take
several weeks and cost millions of pounds
in lost production and replacement of parts damaged during closure.

Modified Alarm Control Operation

Shortly after the plant ran, a consultant proposed to change the operation
of The Alarm Control panel and the software and hardware are modified
accordingly recommendations. The current design works as follows. Raised the
alarm status from Green to Amber and back use the '+' and ' -' keys as before.
However now to raise the state from Amber to Red it is necessary to both press
'+' and also confirm it by pressing CONFIRM button in the Emergency Confirm
panel.

3. Comment on the use of layout and other elements in the control panels (Figures
CS.1, CS.2 and CS.3), including the way in which various visual elements support
or hinder logical grouping and sequence.

CS 1. The layout is all cramped into little space and hard to read. The color is
only used in certain parts of the diagram. Extra information then needed.

CS.2. Basic controls in the layout with the functions grouped together. The color
is used more effectively.

CS 3. Not enough colors used. Used for data input and reading. The data is
grouped together on relationships.

4. Working through the accident scenario, explain why the various problems arise.

Jenny forgot to press the emergency confirm button to avoid an

accidental closure, which could cost the company millions of dollars. If this is
would not have happened, he fixed the manual override issue and do not rush too
completely close. He also forgot to hit the set button, which is necessary to avoid
being treated as part-typed numbers the new value. As a result, an emergency
shutdown occurred, that is it will cost the company a lot.
