Introductory Message
For the facilitator:
This module was collaboratively designed, developed and evaluated by the Development and
Quality Assurance Teams of SDO TAPAT to assist you in helping the learners meet the standards
set by the K to 12 Curriculum while overcoming their personal, social, and economic constraints
in schooling.
As a facilitator, you are expected to orient the learners on how to use this module. You also need
to keep track of the learners' progress while allowing them to manage their own learning.
Furthermore, you are expected to encourage and assist the learners as they do the tasks included
in the module.
This module was designed to provide you with fun and meaningful opportunities for guided and
independent learning at your own pace and time. You will be enabled to process the contents of
the learning resource while being an active learner.
1. Use the module with care. Do not put unnecessary mark/s on any part of the module. Use
a separate sheet of paper in answering the exercises.
2. Don’t forget to answer What I Know before moving on to the other activities included in
the module.
3. Read the instruction carefully before doing each task.

Stone carving has been both a passion and a livelihood for many Cambodian
sculptors.
The art of stone carving in
Cambodia has a very long, fascinating
history which goes back to the foundation
of the Khmer nation.
This famous sculpture in Wat Pho in
Bangkok is 46 meters long and 15
meters high. It is made of plaster on a
brick core and finished in gold leaf. The

The most amazing sculptures are the Asmat wooden sculpture of Papua,
the Dayak wooden mask and sculpture, the ancestral wooden statue of Toraja, and
also the totem-like sculpture of Batak and Nias tribe.

3. Sunken relief sculpture - an image that is carved into the surface, rather than
out of it.
The Merlion is also partly inspired by the story of how Singapore got its name, or
‘The Singapura Story’. The Sentosa Merlion is the biggest replica, standing at 37
meters and made from glass- reinforced concrete.
