After sbout three minutes, timer contactor 2G) loses, and compressor motor contactor (ster) GC is energized. Now, compressor motor is running on star winding. Timer (star delta) 2S: is onergized. After five ‘seconds, timer contactor 251 closes, energizing 251 which closes its contactor and energizes delta contactor 42. At this time, main contactor 6C+ is also energized thru ‘normaly-open (now closed) contactor 42C). Compressor ‘motor is running now on delta winding. Green lamp GL is lighted, indicating operation of the compressor. Oil heater is doenergized. Unloader During the starting of compressor motor, unloader solenoid valve 20U; 20U2 20Us are energized thru normally closed Xe thus partially unloading the compressor. However, by ‘the function of timer 2Us which is energized theu normally- ‘opened (now closed) contactor 42C1, these solenoid valves ‘become de-energized after 30 saconds of delta starting Now, compressor motor is running full Ioaded. However, according to calling of thermostat 23C2, two of the solenoid valves 20Uz 20Us can become energized or de- energized, keeping the compressor partially loaded or un- loaded. 13 a ee Second oF third or fourth compressors run by same se ‘quence as above, thru TSz, TSa, TS+ and 2G2 2Gs, 2G. are set at 4 minutes, 5 minutes and 6 minutes respec- tively, in order to make the each cor pressor start at dif- ferent time, Trouble Indication If one of the compressor protection devices (26W, 63D, 63QL, SIC), or water pressure switch 63W/P activated x1 's do-energized, contactor 421 opens, and the compressor stops. Red lamp RL is lighted thru its notmally-closed contact. Re-starting of the Compressors Eradicate the cause of trouble incicatod by the red lamp, and push the COOL switch again, COMPRESSOR STARTING ‘All compressors are adopting star-delta starting, to reduce the starting current to one-third of direct starting. For further safety, three magnetic contactors are provided; fone is main, another is star and the other is delta. Con- sequently, no voltage is available in the compressor motor ‘when compressor is not running, IME GUARD CIRCU! Compressor(s) is protected from short oycling by timer which makes the compressor to start after five minutes ‘once the compressor(s) stopped. In multi compressor Unit, two compressors never start at eame time by the combined function of this timer and thermostat sensing the temperature of chilled wator. . Their funcs tions should be carefully noted, and field adjustment is not recommenced if th setting isjmaintained at the point listed in the Table. i COMPRESSOR PROTECTION 1. A dual pressure switch protects against excessive dis- charged pressure and exceedingly low suction pres- ‘sure. This switch cuts out comgressor operation when the discharge pressure exceeds the setting or when the suction prassure decreases below the sotting, 2, Overcurrent mercury relays equipped in the magnetic switch box cut out each compressor operation when th curront to the compressor excoeds the setting. 3. The cil heater is equipped with the compressor for all Units prevents oil foarming during cold starting. This heater warms the oil while the compressor is stopped, 4, Crankease and moter chamber are specially designed for easier flow of oil into crankcase chamber from with balanced pressurization. With this tunique design, cil foaring is prevented. REFRIGERANT CIRCUIT PROTECTION 1. The fusible plug equipped in the liquid line molts when refrigerant temperature exceeds the melting point. 2. The freeze protection thermostat, the sensor of which is located near the water outlet on the cooler shell, cuts out the compressor operation. REFRIGERANT CIRCUIT In addition to the basic water chiller components such 2s compressor, condenser, thermal expansion valve and water cooler, following components are equipped with each circuit. 1. Stop valves are equipped at condenser inlet and outlet to store refrigerant during long stoppage of the unit, lr to service the rofrigerant circuit. 2 Stop valve is equipped at compressor suction ine, land facilitates easy comprossor service without much leakage of refrigerant. 3. A quick check for optimum refrigerant charge can be assured with the sight glass in the liquid line. 4, Solenoid valve(s) is equipped at liquid line in order 10 Prevent refrigerant migration to the cooler and the compressor crankcase, M SETTING OF SAFETY AND CONTROL DEVICE Compressor Porte Unit | Setting Dol Pressure Swich ‘Ausomane Ror (One far Each Comp.
