Arts and Crafts Lesson Plan

Theme: Scenes
SY 10-11/Term I

Objectives:
o Increase sensory and fine motor skills.
o Explore the visual arts and art making processes.
o Develop awareness for the uses of the art materials.

Week Activity Materials & Instruction Skills


1 Materials:  Cutting
Glue, googly eyes, green and yellow paint, paper plate, red  Pasting
origami, bubble wrap, marker, toilet paper roll, tape.  Painting
Instructions:
First, draw a curve line like a circle from inside to outside the
paper plate( draw the spirals with black marker, make sure to
stop cutting towards the end and make the head shape). Second,
cut the paper plate by following the line that you already made.
Third, take a sheet of bubble wrap and wrap around it, securing
Snake it with a piece of tape. Then paint the roller into some green/
yellow paint and roll like crazy all over paper plate. Glue on the
two googly eyes and cut small piece of red origami. Cut a triangle
out to make the creepy snake tongue! That’s it… time for kids to
play with their snakes.
2 Parrot Materials: Cutting
Parrot template from card board, wiggly eyes, feather, shinny Pasting
paper, long satay stick, buttons, paper fasteners, colorful ribbon, Crumpling
sequins.
Instructions:
Prepare two templates of parrot and its wing. Brush the glue all
over it, stick on multi colored paper, sequins, and feather. You
can crumple the crepe paper to make his neck. Stick the eyes and
feather for the tail. Join the wing to his body using paper
fasteners. Now these pieces can move up and down. Tape the
satay stick along the back of the body and wings. You can play it
for the puppet show.
3 Cat and Materials: Cutting
poodle from Straws, ribbon (purple, white, and yellow), crepe paper (white Pasting
paper bag and pink), asturo paper (black, yellow pink and purple), paper Drawing
bag, pompom ball.
Instructions:
The children can choose what they want to make, cat or poodle.
Prepare the outlined (cat and poodle head) template on asturo
paper. Ask the children to cut it. Draw the eyes on the piece of
white manila paper and cut it. Paste the eyes and crumple crepe
paper on the ears. For the cat you can paste the straw for his
whiskers and stick the pompom balls for nose. Stick the ribbon
on the neck.
4 Wild paper - Newspaper Painting
tree - Adhesive tape Cutting
- Green paint Rolling
- Yellow Asturo Pasting
- Wiggly eyes Drawing
- Glue
Instructions:
- Lay out two sheet of newspaper with their ends overlapping.
Roll them up and fasten adhesive tape across the middle and
one end of tube.
- Starting at the end that isn’t taped, make cuts down either
side of the newspaper make two more long out halfway
between the first two cuts. Make sure that the paper flops
down.
- Reach inside and little by little gently and put the inside of the
tube up and cut. To finish the tree look more decorative by
paint it.
- After making the tree then we can start making the bird. Start
with copy the long legged bird template onto some stiff
paper and cut it. Glue the wings template on the bird then
poke the leg into the top of the tree.
5 Paper fish Materials: Painting
mobiles Origami paper, blue yarn, blue mica, wiggly eyes, chopsticks, Cutting
tape. Folding
Instructions: Pasting
- Make eight fish: trace the fish template on colorful origami Drawing
paper and cut it. After that you can decorate them and put
the eyes.
- To make the mobiles you put sticks across like ‘X’. Then put
yarn on each side.
- Stick the fishes two in every yarn using the tape.
- After it finished then cut the circle from mica then stick it on
the yarn as the fish bubbles.
6 Giraffe Materials: Painting
Cotton bud, tissue roll, chopstick, orange and yellow oily paper, Cutting
glue, and paint. Pasting
Instructions:
Tape the tissue rolls together to make the body, stick also half of
the tissue roll for his head. Make the holes on his body and
insert the cotton bud. Paint it all yellow. Cut circles from the oily
paper and stick it to his body.
7 Hovering Bee Materials: Painting
Mask Wrapping paper with flowers on it, cardboard, Silver florists’ Cutting
wires, and crepe paper. Pasting
Instructions:
- Trace the basic mask shape and cut it out. Attach elastic and
then cut out the eyeholes.
- Cut out flowers from the wrapping paper and cut the leaves
from the origami paper.
- Stick the 5 wires behind the mask.
- For the bees, draw black lines across the yellow asturo with
big marker. Behind it make an oval to make the bees body,
then cut it.
- Cut out 12 teardrop shapes from white manila paper and glue
one onto each bee. After all bees are finished, stick it on the
wires using the tape.
8. Turtles Instructions: 
- Cut a circle from carton and watch strap from cardboard.
Make the hole in the centre with pencil and stick it on the
watch strap in the middle.
- Roll up the newspaper and give it a twist to keep in place.
Wrap it around the outside of the watch face and tape it into
the place. Paint the watch face using different paint with the
watchstrap paint. After it dry, paste a watch outlined and
stick the clock hand using the straight pin bend the pin at
behind and put the double tape to cover it.
9. Swingly Instructions: 
spider - Cut two long thin strips of different coloured paper.
- Place one strip across the other to form an ‘L’ shape and tap
the two ends.
- Fold the paper strips over reach other until you get to the end
of each strip.Trim the strips and fix the ends together. Repeat
this four times.
- Printed the spider hairy body and its eight feet on buffalo.
Then cut the spider.
- Make a dot on the spider’s fale and stick the four long legs
and its feet.
