Subject: Badger Receiver Tool

Date: April 2004

Badger offers some special service tools that will save time and simplify the service of it's Brigade Cartridge
Operated fire extinguishers.

The Badger "Cartridge Receiver Tool" (P/N - 23438) is necessary for the proper removal of the cartridge
receiver and gas tube assembly from the extinguisher for hydrostatic testing or whenever specific
replacement is dictated during service.

Cartridge receiver tool.

Part number 23438

The receiver tool fits into the machined groove of the cartridge receiver body, where it can be turned to
loosen or tighten the receiver. It is designed so that the tool can be turned and rotated with the aid of a
short length of 7/8 inch diameter bar stock or be secured within a bench vise and the extinguisher
manually rotated.

To ensure a proper seal, Badger also recommends that both the receiver and cylinder thread surfaces be
clean and liberally coated with Locktite PST 567 or Permabond HM-118 pipe sealant prior to installation.

After installation and vertical orientation of the cartridge receiver and gas tube, all excess sealant should
be wiped clean from extinguisher surfaces.
