Phonak hearing
instrument upgrade
Phonak products are constantly improved and upgraded. Our newest technology allows easy,
hassle free upgrade of existing products.

What is hearing instrument (HI) Firmware


and why should you upgrade?
The HI Firmware is the operating system (software) of the hearing instrument, that controls
its functionality. A new HI Firmware release provides new and upgraded functionalities, the
upgrade is optional.

Step 1
During the upgrade please
remove the instruments
from the clients’ ears and
place on a stable surface.
It is very important to avoid
communication breakdown
between the instruments
and iPFG during the upgrade
process (cable must stay
in place at all times). >

Step 2
Enter the “Instruments”
screen and click on “Detect”.
Step 3
You can now access the
upgrade function by going
to “Hearing System” in the
toolbar and selecting
“HI Upgrade”.

iPFG will check what


HI Firmware version
the attached hearing
instruments have.

After that, a pop up


message will inform you
of the availability of a
firmware upgrade. Click
on “Close” if you do not
wish to upgrade.

If you want to upgrade click


on the “Start” button.

Step 4
Before the upgrading
process begins please
ensure to fulfil all of the
conditions as described
in the window.

We recommend that
you close all other open
programs.

Click on “OK” if you


want to start the
Upgrade procedure.

A progress bar will show you
the status of the upgrade.

DO NOT DISCONNECT
THE HI DURING THIS
UPGRADE PROCESS

Once completed
(max. 1 minute with
NOAHlink and 3-4 minutes
with HiPro), the hearing
instruments will have the
new functionalities
contained in the upgrade.

Click on “Close” to
continue with the fitting.
