The Washington State
Investment Board (WSIB) is a dedicated global investment management
organization with over $181 billion in assets under management. The WSIB's globally diversified

45 currencies. The WSIB's central mandate is to maximize return at a prudent level of risk.

The WSIB manages investments for 17 retirement plans for public employees, teachers, school
employees, law enforcement officers, firefighters, and judges. We also manage investments for
several other important public funds that benefit Washington’s industrial insurance program,
colleges and universities, and developmental disability programs. The WSIB’s excellent investment
performance dramatically contributes to the state’s bottom line by earning the lion’s share of money
needed to cover state pension benefits.

This position is anticipated to perform work remotely during the COVID-19 pandemic, although
incumbent should be available for onsite work as we have begun our phased reopening of the
office.

We are seeking a qualified candidate to join our Investment Administrative Assistant team,
providing high-level administrative support to the Risk Management & Asset Allocation, Fixed
Income, and Public Equity Units. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to a globally recognized
investment management organization and support our mission to invest with integrity, prudence,
and skill to meet or exceed the financial objectives of those we serve by providing administrative
support to the Investment Division.

 
DUTIES:
If selected for this opportunity, you will provide support to the Senior Investment Officers and their
teams and report to the Assistant to the Chief Investment Officer. This includes:
Reviewing, editing, proofreading, and formatting presentations and other materials prepared
by investment staff to ensure accuracy of content.
Establishing and maintaining effective office procedures and efficient workflows and
interpreting and applying administrative policies to the work of the units.
Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with management team, Board
members, stakeholders, investment partners, and other external parties.
Preparing or assisting with drafting reports, letters, and other correspondence and
monitoring information for time sensitive materials.
Coordinating unit operations by managing calendars and scheduling meetings.
Assisting with travel arrangements, including preparation of itineraries and travel expense
reimbursement.
Serving as liaison between SIOs and other staff members by relaying information and
assignments and tracking and monitoring assignments as appropriate.
Serving as records coordinator for the units supported.
Researching and flagging information and supporting data in preparation for meetings,
projects, and presentations.
Coordinating special projects and preparation of comprehensive plans, summaries, and
progress reports.
Assisting in preparing unit materials, including investment recommendations and annual
plans.
Recording, composing, and publishing minutes for committees of the Board.
Following standardized rules of language regarding spelling, punctuation, grammar, word
usage, sentence structure, and composition.
Managing contractual closing process of investments.

 
QUALIFICATIONS:

We are looking for a team member who will be communicative, flexible, resourceful, and
supportive. We are looking for someone who will anticipate needs and bring a collaborative
approach.

Competitive applicants will have:


High school diploma or GED and 3 years of progressively responsible administrative
experience. 
Formal education and/or training in office, secretarial, or administrative occupations
may substitute, year for year, for experience.
Proficiency in Adobe Acrobat and Microsoft Office applications including Word, PowerPoint,
Excel, and Outlook.
Excellent writing, proofreading, and editing skills including style and flow, grammar,
punctuation, and spelling.
The ability to effectively organize and prioritize multiple assignments, sometimes of a
complex nature and/or competing priorities.
The ability to adapt easily to changing business needs.
The ability to respond to difficult, stressful, or sensitive interpersonal situations in ways that
reduce or minimize potential conflict.   
Personal accountability for the quality and timeliness of work. 
Intellectual curiosity in the “how” and “why” things are the way they are and about ways
things can be better.  
Impeccable integrity.
Interpersonal Skills - The ability to work effectively with diverse groups, including teammates,
staff, and professional investment partners from around the world.
