 The attenuation approaches zero for low frequencies, because ‘ωRC’ becomes negligible.
 The frequency at which the amplitude of output drops by -3dB with respect to input is
called bandwidth. At this frequency, the power of the output is halved.
 After ωB (cutoff frequency) the amplitude of output drops 20dB every decade.

Exercises:

• Simulate the following schematic circuit of an RC lowpass filter in Multisim:


• Measure -3dB bandwidth (kHz) using the Bode Plotter.

• Use equation (1) to calculate the capacitance, so that the peak value at output is 1V.
Verify the calculation result using simulation result.
