THE BOOK PRESENTASION

Pride and Prejudice

By Jane Austen
01
Pride and Prejudice is one of the most famous novels written
by Jane Austen. Published on January 28, 1813, it is the
author's second novel. In an essay published in 1954,
Maugham considered him one of the top ten novels in the
world.

If "At the Crossroads" is not a classic love story, "Pride and Prejudice" is perhaps
the most classic love story ever written. If I may put it that way. The action in
"Pride and Prejudice" takes place in a century in which the main goal of women
was to find a man with the best material condition and to become his wife.
Brutally speaking, being a wife was the culmination of any woman's life. So when
the news begins to spread that the gallant and not at all poor Mr. Darcy is looking
to get married, the girls do not hesitate to make their presence felt. Which are
more beautiful, more decorated and more suitable to play the role of the future
Mrs. Darcy. And when the proud Mr. Darcy meets the prejudiced Elizabeth, the
birth of a love story is inevitable. A love story that through humor and parody of
the typological characters of the time could not end other than by making history.

Austen

While reading this book I fell in love with Jane Austen. The book presents the
fate of the girls from the Bennet family, and although at the beginning of the
book the emphasis is very much on the eldest daughter of the family, Liz. The
first contact between the two main characters, Liz and Darcy, takes place at the
ball given in the song of the arrival of Mr. Bingley, Jane's possible boyfriend.
The book presents a series of ups and downs that Liz and Darcy go through. A
love story based only on the pride of the two, neither of them wanting to give up.
Why to read this book?

Because it is a romantic story that will break you from everyday life and take you to
ballrooms, dance steps, through bourgeois customs and habits, disappointments and
happiness. Because beyond the love story, Pride and Prejudice is a novel about the
victory of feelings over social constraints and preconceptions. Because Jane Austen
has a fantastic talent to excite you and keep you in the universe of her books, along
with the characters, with sensitivity, realism and intelligent satire. Because it's a
classic book. From those books from which we learn to dream, to judge by our own
inner barometers and to be authentic, beyond the times we live in.
