I can remember clearly the first time I felt my heart be filled with feelings of peace, love and

comfort. That happened right in a scripture study with my family and the Sisters. I have
never felt something like that before in my entire life. That very moment I felt that what the
Sisters were telling me were true and I wanted to follow that prompting immediately. A few
months after, I came to realize that I wasn't feeling the same way I used to. So I started
feeling so frustrated with myself and I wanted to quit the decision I've made before. Elder
Richard G. Scott has taught that we need to, "Write down in a secure place the important
things you learn from the Spirit. You will find that as you record a precious impression, often
others will come that you would not have otherwise received." Luckily I was inspired to write
down my own thoughts about what I was going through and then I came to realize that I
needed to trust God's timing.

So I went to the mission field and my Mission President was always encouraging me and the
other missionaries to write down the impressions we receive from the Holy Ghost in our
personal journal. At first I was reluctant about it, because for me I had a short time in the
morning to prepare a learning plan for the investigators. But then, I just followed what he told
me to and I came to realize that I was receiving more revelation than before. Looking back
now, I was using Active Learning Techniques and my brain started to work harder on what I
was learning during my personal scripture study. It also helped me to improve the learning
plan for the investigators I was teaching back then. I started having an even more efficient
scripture study when I followed that advice about writing my feelings or keywords so I could
review it after and remember that I've learned something new. It made it easier for me to
share Christ's teaching with the people in Recife, and then I started feeling again the same
feelings of love, peace and comfort in my heart, especially for the people I was teaching. I
felt an urge to improve my study time so I could help those people to increase their faith in
Jesus Christ.

My own personal experience following what my leaders told me to, taught me that using
Active Learning Techniques such as writing, teaching and sharing with others what I've
learned, can make my brain work harder and reproduce what I've learned better than if I just
kept the information for myself. I know that if I continue to do it, I can not only retain
information but I can improve my learning and also share the gospel with the children of
God.
