Undernutrition
Inadequate nutrition and infectious
diseases are major problems in
developing countries

deaths associated with diarrhea, pneumonia, malaria, and measles.

Obesity
2009 H1N1 influenza A virus pandemic: • Low grade chronic inflammation

severity and mortality • Higher expression of ACE2 in adipose
tissue

Obesity
Limited data on children

A case series of 50 children with COVID 19:

Obesity (11 [22%]) was the most prevalent comorbidity and significantly
associated with mechanical ventilation in children 2 years or older (6 of 9

Obesity and micronutrient deficiencies
• Obese children are at risk of vitamin A, D, E, folate, iron, zinc and selenium
deficiencies:
• low intakes and less sun exposure
• fat as reservoir
• increased requirements

Antiviral activities of curcumin

S. Z. Moghadamtousi, et al. A review on antibacterial, antiviral, and antifungal activity of curcumin. BioMed Research International 2014, Article ID 186864
System biology tools were applied to explore the potential of VCG Plus in modulating targets and
pathways relevant to immune and inflammation responses.
The results show that VCG Plus can act on 88 hub targets which are closely connected and associated with
immune and inflammatory responses. All these biological processes and pathways have been well
documented in CoV infections studies.
Therefore, our findings suggest that VCG Plus may be helpful in regulating immune response to combat
CoV infections and inhibit excessive inflammatory responses to prevent the onset of cytokine storm.
However, further in vitro and in vivo experiments are warranted to validate the current findings with
system biology tools

• Continue breastfeeding
• Eating foods from a variety of food groups will often be
sufficient to meet energy, protein and micronutrient
requirements
Take home massage • Supplementation should not be considered as a
replacement, but instead as an addition to good
dietary practices
• Prevention of virus transmission is crucial
