Plan For Independent Practice (Activity):

Instructions to the students:

1. Choose three winter holidays of your choice around the world.

2. Use the graphic organizer to write about three holidays.

3. Do the research on those three holidays using the graphic organizer provided.
• When is it celebrated? (Date/Month)
• Where is it celebrated? (Countries)
• What do the people do and eat during those days or on that holiday? (Foods and
activities)

4. Open PowerPoint once the graphic organizer is done.

5. Save it with your name.

6. First slide is the Title Slide.

7. Write your first and last name on the Title Slide.

8. Add content/information/facts you collected in the text.

9. Add Pictures or Images.

10. Add Videos.

11. Add Animation.

12. Add Design.

13. Add Transition.

14. Present to the class.

Instructions/Handout to use PowerPoint
1. Open PowerPoint

2. Select Blank Presentation under the word New. A new blank page will be opened.

3. Click on an off button next to AutoSave.

4. Name your presentation “My Favorite Holidays” or anything you like. Press “OK”.

5. On the first slide, add the title of your presentation. Write your First and Last Name.

6. You can choose a favorite template from the side.

7. Change the color of the font:
• select the text you want to change the color from home button on top left and
click on the font color where it is written “A” with color.
• Choose your favorite color.

8. Select Insert to add a new slide to your presentation.

Choose your layout.
Add title, text, content.

9. Insert Pics:
• Click on Insert
• Click pictures
• Click online pictures

• Write the word of search in search box

 • Choose the picture
• Click on insert

• Picture will be added to your current slide

• Change the size of the picture by the corner circles

10. Add text by clicking on insert, click on text box, then add the facts about the holiday or
festival.

11. Click on design and you can choose the design of your presentation on one slide or all
slides. On the right side, the ideas will be given, and you can choose any of your choice.
12. Click on Transitions and choose what you like such as blinds and it will give the blinds
effect on your slide. You can go on to slide show and it will confirm if your slide has the
transition effect.

13. Select a picture and click on the Animations. Click on the down arrow on the screen
under animations to have more effects. Choose the one you like such as wheels and click
on the start and choose after previous.

14. To insert a video from YouTube:

• Open YouTube
• Search for video to insert.
• At the bottom there is a link “share”, click on share and box will pop up with the
word “copy”. Click on copy.
• Go to the slide, click on insert, click on video, click on the online video.
• Paste the link in box and click on insert. The video you selected will appear on
your slide. You can move and place your video where you want.

15. Click on the slide show to see your presentation. Click on begin slide show on the top
left.
