Note:  For this test, it is highly recommended that you use the Google Chrome1 browser as the audio clips are not
supported in other browser types. For future reference, Google Chrome2 is the most commonly supported browser
within Appen. 
• You will hear twenty (20) recordings and you need to type out what was said in each case.
• You must use Marathi script (e.g. 'लावल्यावर'). Do NOT write in Latin script (e.g. 'Lāvalyāvara'). If you are not
confident typing in Marathi, refer to the HELP section below.
• Do NOT use any kind of abbreviation. All words should be spelled out in full, including numbers.
• Do NOT use sentence punctuation. Full stops, commas and question marks are NOT to be used.
Apostrophes / hyphens, etc. are allowed if required for the normal spelling of a word.
• You can listen to each sample as many times as you like, and you can review your previous answers before
you submit the test.

1 Help with typing in Marathi

If you are not sure how to input Marathi characters, you might like to use the "Lipikaar". Lipikaar is free software
that allows you to type in Marathi by choosing the phonetically nearest English character until you see the Marathi
character you want on screen. Apart from Marathi, it also supports many other languages.

• Important: Your test should be typed using the normal alphabet only. If you need to copy/paste characters
into the text box, make sure that they are copied only from Lipikaar in order to avoid formatting problems.
(Formatting problems will result in an error message and will not save your transcription.) Thus copy/
pasting characters/sentences from Word or such software should be avoided.
