 Ramnarain Ruia Autonomous College
Ramnarain Ruia College of Arts & Science is a premier educational institution in
the country which has been contributing to human progress by molding brilliant,
creative, committed and caring students who are making their alma mater proud in
various walks of life in different corners of the world.

Ruia College became Autonomous from the academic year 2017-18. Also, in the

academic year 2017-18, National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC)
awarded Ruia GRADE with CGPA 3.70. Our Autonomous status has brought us
greater freedom to design innovative, skill-based courses (including Life-skills),
following our Logo, ‘Explore – Experience – Excel which sums up our quest for
excellence. Ruia is identity is its research culture, which we now aim to take it to a
higher level. We believe in promoting first-hand, experiential wisdom rather than
second-hand information gathered from books, the internet, etc.
DDU KAUSHAL KENDRA:

The Government of India through its Deen Dayal Upadhyay Centres for Knowledge
Acquisition and Upgradation of Skilled Human Abilities and Livelihood, has established
KAUSHAL Centers with specific focus on vocational education. These KAUSHAL
centers have been established to address the significant skill-gap that exists between
the demands of the industry and the supply by the educational institutions. Ramnarain
Ruia College with almost eight decades of experience in higher education and training
and with the strong industry-academia linkages it has developed as a direct outcome of
its research in humanities and sciences was the first college in the city of Mumbai to be
granted permission by UGC to start a KAUSHAL Centre in August 2015.
At the DDU KAUSHAL Kendra, Ramnarain Ruia Autonomous College students are
trained to develop hands-on skills that will significantly boost their industrial acceptability
and employability.
 ABOUT WORLD TOURISM DAY
World Tourism Day (WTD) is held annually on 27 September. Its purpose is
to foster awareness among the international community of the importance of tourism
and its social, cultural, political and economic value. The event seeks to address global
challenges outlined in the United Nations Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) and
to highlight the contribution the tourism sector can make in reaching these goals

Theme of World Tourism Day Seminar 2018 – Digitalization In Tourism Industry.

WTD is celebrated by events around the themes selected by the UNWTO

General Assembly, on the recommendation of the UNWTO Executive Council.  While
UNWTO invites people of all ages and backgrounds to hold and take part in
celebrations in their respective country or holiday destination, official WTD celebrations
take place in a UNWTO Member State, on the basis of geographic rotation.

A host country for world tourism day 2019 was India.

 2019 WORLD TOURISM DAY THEME:
Tourism and Jobs

Tourism is one of the leading industries nowadays, where people’s travel needs will
never stop for any reason. For medical purpose, education purpose, business purpose
etc people travel from one place to another as there is need to travel and to fulfill those
travel needs there were many companies that have started working for different tourism
services like airline, ticketing, local transport and visa services. There are many state
board and country boards works to promote the country or state to attract more number
of people and so that government strategies for developing infrastructure and
maintaining beauty of the state works simultaneously.

To maintain such broad connections and to fulfill the travel needs tourism is offering
jobs right from driver to air hostess. It includes cruises, airline, cab services, visa
services,tour managers, guides and so on.
Tourism is a major source of employment because of its labour-intensive nature and
the significant multiplier effect on employment in related sectors. It is estimated
that one job in the core tourism sector creates about one-and-a-half additional or
indirect jobs in the tourism- related economy.
 AIMS AND OBJECTIVES
Aim :

 VISION: To emerge as a Centre of higher learning and innovative research to

meet the challenges of a global society.
 MISSION: Mainstreaming the practices that facilitate intellectual, emotional,
physical and cultural growth of students.

Objective :

 Our main objective was to create a benchmark via this event for our competitors.
 Also keeping a big picture of that event and working for it.
 Planning for the event to keep it’ in terms of ‘specific’.
 Our event should be satisfying to all our Guest and speaker and Participants.
 Trying to give all the practical knowledge about Tourism and travel industry and
making them more interesting and curious about it.

INTRODUCING JOB ROLE

Team Content
  One of the team whose work start the moment you decide to do some event.
 Team content has to start with the basic discussion because you have lot of work
allotted individually as the name introduce as it is.
 Our experience was we have started with the basic brainstorming on the catchy
name for our event and along with it we were working on the creating an unique
hash tags.
 Then we were assigned to make a paragraph which was included with the
college introduction, DDU KAUSHAL, UNTWO, World tourism day last year
information , World tourism day 2019 and this year Theme.
 After that we have to make an Invitation letter for each and every college for
participating to our event.
 Then guest invitation, speakers Invitation and Principle Invitation was also the
major work which was assigned to Team Content.

Team IT

 This team role was also very important to complete our event
 This team is assigned to handle all the technical part which is regarding for the
event.
 To promote our event they all have to post the images as per the planning
strategies.
 Completely handling and dealing with the social Media.
 Designing for letters , flyers , pamphlet.

Team Hospitality

 Hospitality team’s work you only see on the day of event.

  But the planning for this handling and taking care of all the guest by serving them
with satisfying refreshment along with paying attention on what are the
requirements of guest and speakers.
 Planning for guest menu, deciding on the participants refreshment and also
menu for volunteers.
 Basically dealing Food & Beverage department was the major role, dealing with
the suppliers and taking commitment that it will reach on the given time limits.

Team Infrastructure

 Team Infar’s also main role was working on the day of event.
 Taking care of the whole infra of that venue.
 Cleaning the venue before the event and after the event.
 Doing recce of the venue, making banners.
 Arranging all the posters , banners and standees on their right place.

Team Security

 Team security’s work was handling the whole crowd.

 Helping the participants and to direct them for their place and for their needs.
 Escorting for the guest and the speakers.
 Taking care of on the day of event it will work smoothly without any mess.

Team PR

 Team PR has to work 3 months ago only for finding the participants to join the
event.
 Also to invitation the guest and speakers work was also assigned to PR.
 Visiting lot of colleges and inviting them for the event.
 On the day of event guiding to the participants by seating at registration desk.
Team Marketing

 One of the important and center of the attraction team among all teams.
 Basically marketing is the team who has to deal with the Financial process.
 Marketing team’s work also get started 4 months ago before the event.
 It needs lot of co-ordination and meetings to discuss on the Sponsor’s.
 You have to approach to your sponsors to supporting your event on financial
bases.
 Once the sponsorship has got done then you have to do follow up with them.
 Such as giving them the acknowledgement letter, Thank you letter, Invitation
letter and also attaching some highlights of your event as a proof.
 Each and every member has assigned for the same work.
 For this team there are certain time limits were you have to bring sponsorship
before the time which is given to you.

CHALLENGES
 Handling the event was a biggest task for all of us

 Co-ordination was a important component in all the teams.

 Being in touch with the Coordinators was not happening in practically.

 Lack of team building.

 On the day event If any small thing is not happening as per the planning.

 More then planning implementation / executing the plan was main challenging.

 Each team has their own challenges on the day of event.

 Specially for marketing dealing with the sponsors was the biggest task.

 For Security handling the crowd.

 For Hospitality dealing with the suppliers and waiting back after the event and

serving all the volunteers.

RECOMMENDATION
  The World Tourism Day 2019 seminar a whole event for this year was put up

with really very hard work and strong efforts.

 I would like to recommend for my juniors while putting event like this you have to

understand the type of event such s it was a formal event.

 Co-ordination is one of the major component were all the students has to focus

individually and have to work in a team.

 Understanding this year’s challenges and working on it, it would be the best

event for next year as well.

 For this year we have created a benchmark for all we hope that you will also

work same for the next year as well.

 And you will take this benchmark as a Tradition of our departmental event and

you will motivate to your next batch others the same.

Firstly I would like to show my gratitude to my own college Ramnarain Ruia
Autonomous College. For giving us this wonderful opportunity to putting this formal
event to our college. And also the special thanks to our respected principle madam Mrs.
Anushri Lokur for joining us in this event and motivating us toward the future.

I would also like to say Thanks to my Departmental faculty Mrs. Amrita Gokhale and
Ms. Urmi Parlikar for giving us the chance to put a event such like this. And giving
chance to applying our theroticle knowledge into the practical and gaining so much of
experience.

Along with that I woud like to say thanks to all my speakers Mr. Nishant kashikar, Miss.
Priya Bose, Miss. Bharti Javlikar and Mr. Mudit Yadav for showing your presence on
this auspicious day and also for sharing your practical knowledge with us. Also Thanks
to my guest Mr. Neel Patil for coming and making the event more special.

Apart from this I would like to say thanks from my bottom of my heart to all my
participants, for showing your presence and celebrating this seminar and event with us.
