SUBJECT: DIVERTER STRIP REPLACEMENT KIT

REASON FOR REVISION: SSL 452B corrects effectivities in accordance with the
subject kits, and adds one model’s ending serial number.

PURPOSE: This service spares letter announces the availability of Piper part numbers (P/N)
88559-002 and 88559-003, Kit – Diverter Strip Replacement. Each kit provides
the instructions and parts to replace one lightning diverter strip on the dorsal
fairing of the affected models. (Each airplane has two diverter strips.)

MATERIAL REQUIRED: Use the table below to select the appropriate kit for a specific airplane. Two similar
kits are required to replace both diverters on an airplane (one diverter strip per kit).

AVAILABILITY OF PARTS: Your Piper Approved Service Center

SUMMARY: The replacement diverter strips for affected models no longer have an integral
adhesive backing. Acrylic adhesive must be applied to replacement strips before
installation. Piper Kit P/Ns 88559-002 and 88559-003 provide instructions for
removing the existing strips, adding adhesive to the replacement diverter strips,
preparing the airplane skin for the installation, and the installation of the diverter
strips to the dorsal fairing.

NOTE: Please notify the factory of any address/ownership corrections. Changes should include aircraft model,
serial number, and current owner’s name and address.
