Playdate #2 Reflection
During our second playdate my group talked primarily about our children’s IQ test
results, how they have been developing and what they are good at. I noticed that some kids were
considered gifted in more than one category but then below average in other areas for example if
they were gifted in both reading and math, they then fell below average in visual spatial ability.
These 3 things being interchangeable different kids having different strengths and weaknesses
though most children were classified as gifted in only one subject they were then average of
above in the other two. There was no huge correlation to be found in what kids were gifted at
other than it being many of us who claimed we stressed subjects like reading and comprehension
at a young age they became gifted in the subject. Some of my classmates’ children though lacked
good communication skills something that the examiner noted, whereas some children including
my own were seen as fun, calm and outgoing in the examiner’s notes. Another big discovery in
our playdate was that none of our children were noted as having behavioral issues during the IQ
test which is a very good thing. Some of my classmates did get a bad evaluation from the
examiners survey some being placed well below average in warmth or discipline of their
children. But as of now their children seem to be unaffected by this academically but this may be
the reason for some of their kids being very uncomfortable and nervous around the examiner.
Overall from all the reports everyone’s child seems to be doing well, everyone’s child is
considered gifted in either reading or math. There was only one person’s child who was
considered gifted in visual spatial ability which is amazing and show’s that their child’s
creativity was placed first and their interest were placed above theirs as a parent.

In regard to my own child she was placed in the gifted category for reading and was slightly
above average in math and well above average in visual spatial abilities. She did really well with
the examiner being very easy to work with, cooperative, and outgoing. Like everyone else in my
child does not have any behavior issues and my examination score gave me top 15% in warmth
and top 15% in discipline. This playdate has again verified that I am moving a great direction in
raising my child and exemplifies the parenting style I want to use this being authoritative
parenting style. So, I will continue to raise my child in the same manner as before.
