HELATH ISSUES RELATED TO

HUMAN IMMUNE SYSTEM

CHEAH CHEE YOONG 4S1

Allergy

An allergy is an immune system

response to a foreign substance
that’s not typically harmful to your
body. These foreign substances
are called allergens. Your immune
system produces substances
known as antibodies. When you
have allergies, your immune
system makes antibodies that
identify a particular allergen as
harmful, even though it isn't.
COMMON ALLERGENS

01. AIRBORNE
ALLERGENS
pollen, animal dander,
02. CERTAIN
FOODS
particularly peanuts,
dust mites and mold eggs, seafoods and milk.

Systemic Lupus Erythematosus (SLE)

SLE is an autoimmune disease

in which the immune system
attacks its own tissues, causing
widespread inflammation and
tissue damage in the affected
organs. It can affect the joints,
skin, brain, lungs, kidneys, and
blood vessels. There is no cure
for lupus, but medical
interventions and lifestyle
changes can help control it.
CAUSES SYMPTOMS

The causes of SLE are

unknown, but are fatigue, skin rashes, fevers, and
believed to be linked to pain, swelling in the joints, sun
environmental, genetic, sensitivity, oral ulcers, arthritis,
certain medicines and lung problems, heart problems
hormonal factors. and kidney problems.
TREATMENT
TREATING SLE often requires a team approach
because of the number of organs that can be affected.
SLE treatment consists primarily of
immunosuppressive drugs that stop your immune
system from damaging healthy cells and tissues.
Hydroxychloroquine and corticosteroids are often used
to treat SLE.
