1. PURPOSE

The objective of this report is to present the structural verification of Steel A Frame use to transport Glass
panels from the storage area to the installation site.

2. SOFTWARES

The software used for steel verification is Robot Structural Analysis 2016

3. DESIGN CRITERIA

3.1 Material

Material E (MPa) G (MPa) NI LX (1/°C) RO (kg/m3) Re (MPa)

Steel S235 – Thickness < 16mm 210000 81000 0.30 0.000012 7850 235

Where:

- E: Young modulus
- G: Shear modulus
- NI: Poisson ratio
- LX: Thermal expansion ratio state code of
- ρ: Density design and QCS
- Re: Yield Strength

3.2 Deflection limit

3.3 Load Definition

3.3.1 Dead Load

Self-Weight is introduced automatically by the calculation software, taking into account densities, materials,
and dimensions. Glass weight is considered as 10Ton which are distributed equally from both sides of the
Steel A Frame.

3.4 Load Combinations

3.4.1 Service combinations: SLS

- 1.0 Dead Load

3.4.2 Ultimate combinations: ULS

- 2.0 Dead Load

4.2 Composition and Support Properties

The Steel A frame is composed of Steel tubes 50x50x3. From the bottom section I beams 202x135x7mm are
welded to the lateral Horizontal tubes.

In order to carry The Steel A frame, lifting bells are used on the IPE sections from each corner as shown below:

Therefore, in the 3D Model, supports are considered pinned supports on each corner:

4.3 Load Definition

4.3.1 Dead Load

Self-weight is automatically considered by the software. Glass weight is considered 10 ton, which are equally
distributed from each side of the Steel frame and applied as nodal loads at the bottom sections of the Steel A
frame.

Fz = 10Ton ≈ 100000N.

the actual case is

to apply the load
as a distributed on
the steel frame as
shown on all
vertical members
of two sides

4.6 Conclusion
and utilization
Max. Deflection = 1.1mm < Allowable deflection = 1000/500 = 2mm ratios as per robot
output.
Max. stress = 71.34MPa < Allowable Stress for Steel S235 = 235/1.1 = 213MPa
