The old man and the sea

The day I decided to read The old man and the sea my life fully changed. This book was
written in 1951 by Ernest Hemingway, one of the most famous American writers of the last
century. This book is able to make a standard pedestrian question his existence and I´ll
show you why.

Santiago is an old fisherman who has not caught anything for eighty-four days. We meet him
at the beginning of the book. The book tells us the story of Santiago and his path against the
biggest catch he has ever seen and that probably could save his career.

During the course of days he is fighting against this giant fish. This fight added to the
loneliness of the immense sea forces Santiago to talk alone and make the biggest effort of
his life. At the end of the book, even if he loses the catch because of some sharks, he ends
up with his spirit being undefeated.

I really recommend this book to all the people who have any kind of empathy towards
fictional characters. This book will make your mind blow up. This is a book which I would
read ten times if I could.
