TASK 1: ROUTER PREPARATION


Routerboard preparation
 Disabled / Power off wireless radio
 Power up your router
 Connect your router
 Connect your laptop to router through Ethernet port 3
(ether3)
 Resetting your router to default configuration

1. Resetting your router to default configuration

 Connect router using MAC address


 Open WinBox.exe. go to (Neighbors)
 Click “refresh”
 Select MAC Address
 Make sure ‘Connect To’ column is filled by MAC Address
(i.e 4C:5E:0C:…..)
 Filled inside the column with
 Username : admin
 Password : <leave it blank>

 Click ‘Connect’
 It will remotely connect to your router
 Click [System Reset Configuration]

 Click ‘Reset Configuration’

 Click ‘Yes’

 Removing router’s default configuration


 Open again ‘WinBox.exe’
 Connect router using MAC address

 Open WinBox.exe. go to (Neighbors)

 Select MAC Address


 Connect To’ column is filled by MAC Address (i.e
4C:5E:0C…)
 Filled inside the column
 Username : admin
 Password : <leave it blank>

 Click ‘Connect’
 It will remotely connect to your router
 Click ‘Remove Configuration’
 The pop up will only appear when you connect the router
for the first time
 If the router suddenly disconnected, please reopen
“WinBox.exe”
 WinBox.exe
 Please familiar with winbox windows and look for the
following tab:
 “New Terminal”
 “IP Addresses”
 “IP Routes”
 “IP Firewall NAT”

 Removed any files inside file’s folder = file (if any)


 Click the file’s, then
 Click “ – “

TASK 2: BASIC ROUTER CONFIGURATION TO INTERNET

 Create DHCP-Server for ether2


 IPDHCP Server(DHCP) “DHCP Setup”
 DHCP Server Interface=ether2
 Continue with next… until finish

 Connect internet source to router using port 1 (ether1/eth1)


 Open WinBox.exe and connect to your router (Router X)
using MAC-WinBox
 Request ip address, subnet mask, gateway, dns, ntp from
Class AP router (your router become dhcp-client)
 IPDHCP Client (DHCP Client) “add”
o Interface = ether1
o ”Apply”
o Make sure the status is ”bound”

o Finish click ”OK”

 Add router’s IP address going to laptop (ether3)
 IPAddress “add”
o Address=192.168.X.1/24
o Interface=ether2
o “OK” or “Apply”

 Translate source IP address of all packet going to the


internet thru your router
 IPFirewall(NAT)“add”
 (General)
 Chain=srcnat
 Out Interface=ether1
o (Action)
 Action=masquerade
 “Ok” or “Apply”
Verify your lab by doing the below procedure

 Renew your laptop ip address


 Open command prompt on your laptop (CMD)
 Type : ‘ipconfig<space>/release<enter>’ . Then
‘ipconfig<space>/renew<enter>’

 Check internet connection on your laptop


 Please inform trainer for any assistant
 Close MAC-WinBox and reopen using IP-WinBox
