Objectives:
Analyze the impacts of technology on the healthcare services industry.

The ERP systems modules that were seen in their background, such as IoT, Blockchain,
Autonomous Database or in Cloud-based ERP, HC, Procurement, and Treasury Applications,
expanded in the year of 2019, according to the analysis of Athenahealth sales.

The following shows the feature of each said modules based on Athenahealth provision;

IoT - Doctors and nurses at Athenahealth, for example, are always on the move but must
monitor patients all through the day. Those same professionals could receive the data and
information they require from wherever on campus if medical equipment, sensors, and devices
were outfitted with a more connected network. This would free up a significant amount of time
for life-saving efforts.

Blockchain - EHRs are unlikely to be replaced by blockchain. Bitcoin, on the other hand, is
unlikely to become a new professional fee currency. Blockchain, on the other hand, is extremely
valuable for proof-of-work, auditing, and data integrity. Medical records can be verified as
complete and unaltered using blockchain technology. The blockchain can keep track of what
was done and when it was done. Interoperability can be improved by using blockchain to record
patient consent for data sharing.

Cloud-based ERP - Athenahealth's hospital and health system clients will be tightly connected
with Intacct (an ERP software provider). The ability to introduce and scale new offerings via a
cloud-enabled network is limited in health care, despite being typical in other industries. This
type of strategic cooperation is part of athenahealth's continued commitment to completely
service the hospital market in order to assist institutions in reaching their full potential.

Procurement - Because AthenaNet is a web-based, centrally hosted program, it does not

necessitate the purchase of extra hardware or database management systems (DBMS). Certain
device types, however, will necessitate the acquisition of specialized compatible machines and
software.

Treasury Applications - A treasury management system (TMS) is business software that

automates treasury activities that are traditionally manual. CFOs and treasurers can obtain
more visibility into cash and liquidity while also gaining control over bank accounts, remaining
consistent, and administering in-house banking and finance operations by automating these
steps.
Smartphones, as previously indicated, contain applications that are used to examine evidence-
based practice. Take, for example, the Epocrates1 app, which is the most well-known medical
app among western physicians and aids in physician practice. This is only one illustration of
how cutting-edge clinical practice standards integration has become in recent years.

AdvanceMD (Medical Billing Software)

AdvancedMD has a well-known EHR, and their medical billing software integrates with it
to provide a completely integrated billing solution for an unified platform method. To streamline
the front office, the medical billing software module fully integrates with the AdvancedMD EHR
solution and all of its components. Furthermore, this tight connectivity is shown in payment
processing. The billing software is integrated with credit card processing in this case. This
allows the payments to be auto-posted to the patient's account with only a short swipe.

The cloud-based approach significantly improves the usefulness of this EMR, especially
for practices with several locations and different providers. With traditional, locally managed
software systems, keeping track of and keeping up to date with invoices in a practice like this is
a huge difficulty. However, with the cloud and AdvancedMD's Centralized Billing, this becomes
a much easier operation, with the ability to handle numerous providers and locations from a
single shared database.

In general, the AdvancedMD Medical Billing system is a fully integrated service that
complements the AdvancedMD EHR, with benefits such as software claim scrubbing, enabled
integration, and data maintained in the cloud. Nevertheless, consider the drawbacks, which are
centered on user ratings, such as bad customer service, a difficult-to-navigate layout, and
glitchy software with too many downtime difficulties. In the end, introducing Medical Billing to the
AdvancedMD EHR platform is an acceptable next step for existing customers, but it is not worth
moving to for users who are content with their present EHR solution.
