Test III.
1. Personality is formed by the ongoing interaction of temperament, character, and
environment. All attributes of the person help shape his personality.
2. Mead’s concept of the self is that it is being developed through an interaction
with the environment and social experience. It is constituted of self awareness and a
self-image. As I wrote in the beginning, we try to make sense of other people’s
behaviours. We seek to understand the intentions of other people, and it is by doing
so that we get to understand them.
3. One of psycho social theory's advantages is that it provides a broad framework
from which to evaluate development across the lifespan. It also allows us to
underline human beings' social nature and the critical role that social ties play in
their development.
(CHALLENGE)
1. Can you imagine a life without socialization?
Individuals and the cultures in which they live both benefit from socialization. It
demonstrates how deeply human beings and their social surroundings are interwoven.
To begin with, a society perpetuates itself by imparting culture to new members. A
society will cease to survive if subsequent generations do not learn its way of life. In
order for a society to thrive, whatever makes it unique must be passed on to those who
join it. Socialization is just as important to us as individuality. Social interaction is
how we learn who we are and how we fit into the world around us as we eventually
gain the ability to perceive ourselves through the eyes of others.

2. How important is the family in the socialization of a person?

as family is usually considered to be the most important agent of socialization. As
infants, we are completely dependent on others to survive. Our parents, or those who
play the parent role, are responsible for teaching us to function and care for ourselves.
They, along with the rest of our family, also teach us about close relationships, group
life, and how to share resources. Additionally, they provide us with our first system of
values, norms, and beliefs - a system that is usually a reflection of their own social
status, religion, ethnic group, and more.
(HARNESS)
Socialization is the process of teaching people how to function as productive members
of society. It outlines how people learn to understand and accept societal norms and
expectations, as well as how they become conscious of societal ideals. Socialization is
distinct from socializing (interacting with others, such as family and friends); it is a
sociological process that occurs as a result of socializing. It allows us to place a level
of importance on some things and less of an importance on others. Also, it’s how we
form our preferences and prejudices. What is normal in one environment could be
completely taboo in another. Socialization could be influence by the standards
imposed by your society.
