hunt (for ...) /hʌnt/


to look for something that is difficult to find

e.g. She is still hunting for a new job.

(also résumé) a written record of your education and
the jobs you have done, that you send when you are
applying for a job

Dialog (4 mins)
Role-play the dialog with your teacher twice, and learn the highlighted expressions by heart.

Vera: So, how’s the job hunting going?
Ben: I’ve sent out about 30 resumes and gone to 4 interviews so far this month.
Vera: Wow, you’re on a roll! Any news about that sales job for the finance company? It
seemed like the perfect position for you.
Ben: Not yet. They said they’d get back to me by last week, but I haven’t heard from
them.
Vera: Ah, okay. Well, make sure you follow up with all the places where you’ve
interviewed – it shows initiative.
TI: Take turns to play both characters. Emphasize and repeat the highlighted expressions.

Suppose your friend asks you about your job hunting. Use the vocabulary and expressions you’ve
