Structural Calculation
WINDSOR PROJECT – ACP
15 December 2021 REINFORCEMENT

1. INTRODUCTION

The objective of this report is to propose the reinforcement needed for the ACP depending on different load
cases. Two critical ACP Panels are considered and verification is done in two different cases, one where the
ACP is under Wind Load and one where Nodal maintenance loads are considered on several locations of the
ACP.

2. DESIGN CRITERIA

According to design parameters section 4.4, the following Combinations should be considered:

Load combinations

Service combinations: SLS

- 1.0 Dead loads + 1.0 Wind load

- 1.0 Dead loads + 1.0 Maintenance Load

Ultimate combinations: ULS

- 1.35 Dead loads + 1.5 Wind load

- 1.35 Dead loads + 1.5 Maintenance Load

3. SOFTWARES

The software’s used are:

- Autodesk Robot Structural Analysis Professional 2014

ACP Properties

4
Structural Calculation
WINDSOR PROJECT – ACP
15 December 2021 REINFORCEMENT

Based on the above data sheet, the effective stiffness for the 4mm ACP is 2400kNcm2/mm.

2400kNcm/mm = E x I

Where: -E is the young modulus of the panel (70000MPa)

-I is the effective inertia of the panel (mm4/mm)

240000000N.mm2 /mm
I= = 3428.571429mm4/mm = 1000mm x thickness3/12
=70000N/mm2

Effective thickness t = 3.45mm

Due to the 0.2mm thickness tolerance, a thickness of 3.25mm is considered for the verification of the ACP
panels in the following 3D models.

Dimensions

The dimensions of the ACP are equal to 1200x3740mm.

Thickness = 4mm.

Support properties

Fixations on the ACP are considered Pinned as shown in the image above.

Loads definition

Dead Loads

The self-weight of the aluminum ACP is calculated automatically by the software according to the mechanical
properties and dimensions of each component.

Case 1: Wind Load

According to Design parameters section 4.3.2, Referencing the specifications 6801- Windsor Project, Section 4-
External Glazing and Cladding Performance Specification-rev D, Wind Load is equal to 2250Pa

Case 2: Nodal Maintenance Load

According to design parameters, a Nodal load of 1000N is applied on a square area of area of edge 100mm on
the ACP, several load cases are considered:

1000/ (0.1x0.1) = 100000Pa
