If the degree of accuracy is not specified in the question, and if the answer is not exact, give
the answer to three significant figures. Give answers in degrees to one decimal place. For π,
use either your calculator value or 3.142.

Q.1 The diagram shows a triangular prism of length 12 cm. Triangle ABC is a cross section
of the prism. Angle BAC = 9 0 °, AC = 6 cm and AB = 5 cm. Calculate the angle between
the line CE and the base ABED. (2)
Q.2 A company makes solid chocolate eggs and their shapes are mathematically
similar. The diagram shows eggs of height 2 cm and 6cmThe mass of the small
egg is 4 g. Calculate the mass of the large egg.

Q.3 APB and AQC are straight lines. PQ is parallel to BC. AP = 8 cm, PQ = 10 cm and
BC = 12cm. Calculate the length of AB.

The marks are out of 20.

Work out her mark on the fifth test. (2)

Q.7 The table shows information about the numbers of pets owned by 24 students.

a) Calculate the mean number of pets. (2)

b) Jennifer joins the group of 24students. When the information for Jennifer is added to the table,
the new mean is 3.44 . Calculate the number of pets that Jennifer has. (2)

Q.8 The heights, in meters, of 200 trees in a park are measured.

a) Find the interval which contains the median height. (1)

b) Calculate an estimate of the mean height. (2)

Q.8 Helen measures a rectangular sheet of paper as 197mm by 210mm, each correct to nearest
millimeter. Calculate the upper bound for the perimeter of the sheet of paper. (2)

Q.9 The length of a side of a regular hexagon is 6.8cm, correct to one decimal place. Find the
smallest possible perimeter of the hexagon. (2)

Q.10 Solve the simultaneous equations 2x + y = 5 and 2y = x – 10. (2)
