1. How is global literacy and multicultural literacy interconnected? Justify
your answer. (9 pts) Students embrace diverse behaviors, cultural values, patterns of practice, and communication. In fact, when students embrace the principle that difference does not equal defficiency, they gain an appreciation for the wealth of diversity that surrounds them. We live in multicultural societies, study in multicutural settings, and we interact with those who come from a different place. Awareness and sensitivity to different culture determined norms, promote understanding and opportunities. 2. Is social literacy important for both students and teachers in the classroom? Why or Why not? Cite practical situation. (9 pts) Teachers have been entrusted with the education of their students, but the term “education” has taken on a new meaning. Today, education means the whole child, not just the academics. Personal and interpersonal skills such as responsibility, self-management, honesty, collaboration, and leadership are keys for success in a four corner classroom. Strong schools build these skills for their learners and create educational cultures and relationships that value more than just academics. 3. Can reading texts online be considered digital literacy? Defend your stand. (9pts) People who use both cognitive and technical skills to find, create, and communicate information are certainly on their way to becoming digitally literate. But, it's important to know that simply reading online does not mean digitally literate. For instance, reading online to an eBook website is much different from reading a printed book. It simply replaces words on a page with text on a screen. 4. How do you define traditional classroom? How do you define 21 st century classroom? (9pts). A traditional classroom is where a teacher moderates and regulates the flow of information and knowledge. Students are expected to continue developing their knowledge of a subject outside of school through homework exercises. In a modern classroom, students are actively involved in constructing content and new ideas.
