Reflection

Despite the various challenges we face, we Filipinos are recognized for our
cheerful view on life. One explanation for this approach is that we have skills that allow
us to tackle our own challenges with confidence. We may improvise and repurpose
scraps and abandoned materials to create unique technologies or creations. Our
creativity, though, is the driving force behind this hope.
After watching the video, I realized that there are a lot of Filipino inventions that
I am not aware at all. Surprisingly, the mentioned inventions made by my fellow
Filipinos are not written in books and not being taught in schools. Filipinos are known
for their exceptional talent and for being hardworking. Seeing that their creations made
by their brilliance and hardwork, which are not acknowledged, makes me sad. As a
result, some of their inventions ended up being sold by foreign companies without
credit. Sadly, this is the typical scenario that our fellow Filipino inventors suffer
everyday.
Despite the incredible inventions included in the video, I can't deny that the
entire selection made me realize how disadvantaged we are in terms of access to decent
technology and facilities that might cater to and cultivate our abilities. As a
developing nation, we are frequently confronted with challenges to our economy, health
care system, and security, making research and innovation a less priority. Rather of
investing funds to promote and encourage research in the country, the government is
more focused on eradicating drugs, crime, and poverty and improving tourism to
enhance the economy.
It is now widely acknowledged that science, technology, and innovation are
critical components of a country's progress. Indeed, no country has advanced without
using science, technology and innovation as a key component of their development
strategy. Every advanced country in the world has made the science, technology and
society as the focus of their policy. This has not been accomplished by the Philippines.
Science, technology, and innovation are critical components in addressing
contemporary difficulties. However, the Philippines is now unprepared to meet these
problems. We do not invest enough in science and technology, human resource
development, research and development and physical infrastructure. We now lack even
the bare minimum of scientists and technicians required for innovation-driven
development. As a result, we have low industrial and agricultural productivity,
inefficiency overall, and a small production of knowledge goods such as scientific
papers, patents, and discoveries. There is insufficient local investment to absorb highly
skilled scientists and technologists. As a result, we are engaged in an unwinnable fight to
stem the departure of our highly skilled professionals to nations that can give them with
the monetary rewards, productive working circumstances, and social recognition that
they are denied in their own country.
On the positive side, despite their tragic situation, Filipino innovators have
remained strong and have even transcended to the world stage of creativity,
representing the Philippines with their incredible discoveries and innovations. These
technologies have even added obvious convenience and quality to the lives of many
people throughout the world, whether for entertainment, medical, or daily tasks. Such
as the fluorescent that brighten up the homes of millions of people, the erythromycin
that have led to health improvement, the karaoke that serves as the life of the party, the
single chip graphical interface accelerator, the incubator and so forth.
We, Filipinos are unquestionably creative people. This is visible in the several
sectors of effort in which we engage, resulting in productivity and creativity. As
concerned citizens, we must release and improve the Filipino's creative spirit. We
should use it to aid in national rehabilitation. So, let us make use of this resource to
assist ourselves and our country in resolving economic issues.
