International Labour

Child: A ‘child’ is a person below the age of 18.

illicit activities.
Young worker: A young worker is a person aged
above the legal working age but still considered a
child under international law (i.e. below the age of 18).

Hazardous work: This is work that endangers the
physical, mental or moral wellbeing of the child, either
by its nature or by the conditions under which it is
performed (e.g. working late, at night, carrying heavy
loads, working with machinery, dangerous tools or
chemicals).
