Writing Process of English 112

In the beginning of English 112 I was adjusted to a 16 week class pace due to earlier

classes in the semester, however, I quickly learned thar what I had been doing was not going to

cut it. My old writing process was fairly simple as I would first take a week to nitpick a perfect

topic in order to write a pretty well planned essay. After I had planned out the basis of my essay,

I would usual travel to the campus and begin working on an outline and eventually finish the

essay up the day before it was due and use the deadline day to revise.

However, this year my schedule became wonky so when I received an assignment I had

poor time management and would first begin stressing about how much time I would have in

order to receive a decent grade before submission. After stressing out over the new assignment, I

would then clear my mind and find a decent source to base my essay on and build information to

support it over a couple days. After picking a basis I slammed through the essay the night it was

due and somehow still received average grade.

After picking my basis and finishing my skeleton of the essay, researching the topic was

often my favorite part about writing. I generally travel to campus and research my sources,

however, this year most source work was done in my room. Generally it would take a couple

days just to run through enough sources to have a general understanding of the things I would
and would not use for the essay’s supportive statements. After completing the essay, I only give

it a glance to check for errors and occasionally seat myself in to a readers perspective in order to

see if my work was effective.

Overall, this semester I could have done much better honestly, I am really disappointed

myself in how overwhelmed I let myself get because of my new job and new house. These

factors played a critical role in my standing of this class and sadly I do not think I learned

enough. Moving forward from English 112 I know now that must manage time extremely well in

order to keep up to date in my classes and not fall behind due to such roadblocks. The biggest

lesson I probably learned is to try and finish assignments before they are due rather than the

night of because it is much less stressful on the human mind.
