Original manual
Purpose The lube oil supply pumps transfer lube oil from the lube oil storage tank to
the engine related service tanks. A lube oil shut off valve cuts the lube oil
supply to the lube oil supply pumps in case of a fire.
The lube oil transfer pump transfers lube oil from the lube oil maintenance
tank(s) back to the engine related service tanks. A lube oil shut off valve
cuts the lube oil supply to the lube oil transfer pump in case of a fire.

Purpose The lube oil priming pump provides the engine with lube oil during pre-
lubrication prior to engine start and post-lubrication after the engine stop.
Properties The pump is engine related, 3 AC supplied, connected to the EAP with
anti-condensation heater and PTC-control (Positive Temperature
Coefficient). The anti-condensation heater is in operation if the pump is off.
Three operation modes can be selected for the lube oil priming pump:
automatic remote mode
manual remote mode
manual local mode
The automatic remote functions are implemented in SaCoS.
With engine start SaCoS activates the start request for the pump. The
pump runs until the engine speed exceeds a specific setpoint. During
normal operation of the engine the pump is stopped. If the engine stops
and the speed decrease below a specific setpoint, the pump will be
started. The pump operation is requested for post-lubrication time after the
engine is stopped (e.g. 15 minutes).
If the engine standstill time is longer than a predefined time, a pre-
lubrication before next start is necessary. SaCoS monitors the lube oil
pressure at engine inlet for start release.
In manual remote mode the pump can be started and stopped from the
GCP.
In manual local mode, the pump can be started directly from the EAP.
The pump stops the operation by the emergency stop push button at GCP,
EAP or SaCoS.

Purpose The lube oil temperature regulating valve controls the lube oil temperature
at the engine inlet.
Properties The valve is engine related, 1 AC UPS supplied and connected to SaCoS.
Three operation modes can be selected for the regulating valve:
manual remote mode
automatic local mode (SaCoS)
manual local mode (at LOP)
In manual remote mode the valve can be operated from the GCP. Manual
remote mode selection needs to be done at SaCoS.
In automatic local mode, SaCoS operates the valve. A temperature
element detects the temperature of the lube oil at the engine inlet and
transmits a value to SaCoS. The SaCoS system compares this value to
the preset set point (for example 55 °C) and controls the lube oil
temperature regulating valve accordingly. The valve is equipped with a
position transmitter to display the actual position. SaCoS provides the
valve position and controller failure via Modbus connection to the GCP.
In manual local mode, the valve can be operated from the local operation
panel at the engine.
Signal exchange for valve control and valve status between GCP and
SaCoS is done via Modbus.

Purpose The automatic backwash filter removes particles and deposits from the oil
supplied to the engine. The removed particles will get flushed back to the
service tank during the continuous self-cleaning process of the filter. The
Filter operation is realized by the lube oil inlet pressure without additional
electrical power supply.
Properties The filter is plant related and connected to the EAP. The filter does not
have its own local control panel. Operating Modes are not available for the
filter.
The filter is equipped with one differential pressure switch consisting of two
contacts.
With differential pressure switch 1 of 0.6bar a pre-alarm is indicated.
With differential pressure switch 2 of 0.8bar a main-alarm shall be
indicated. If the differential pressure is active for 30min, engine shutdown
is initiated.
Purpose The lube oil module instrumentation enables the operator to monitor the
system parameter.
Properties The following instruments are installed at the module and connected to
EAP.
Purpose The Lube Oil Separator instrumentation enables the operator to monitor
the system parameter.
Properties Several instruments are installed at the module and connected to EAP.
The following instruments are installed on the module:
3.5 Lube Oil Replenishing and Flow Rate Measuring Device 01MJV54
Purpose The lube oil replenishing and flow rate measuring device is used for filling
and refilling of the service tank and measures the lube oil filled to the
service tank.
Properties The module is engine related. All components on the module are
separately supplied and connected to the EAP. The module does not have
its own local control panel. The operating modes are not available for the
module directly, but for its components.
The following components are described:
KKS Description
01MJV54AA010 Lube oil filling valve
01MJV54CF010 Lube oil measuring device
Purpose The lube oil filling valve controls the lube oil filling/refilling of the lube oil
service tank from the lube oil storage tank.
Properties The valve is engine related, 1 AC UPS supplied, connected to the EAP
and equipped with two position switches. Two modes of operation can be
selected for the valve
automatic remote mode
manual remote mode
In automatic remote mode, the valve is opened and closed from the plant
control system. With filling request from SaCoS and no Block of Filling
from the plant control system, the valve will be opened. With no filling
request from SaCoS and time delay (5s, adjustable) the valve will be
closed.
Block of Filling is generated if four lube oil filling valves are already open at
the same time. Blocking is active until less than four valves are opened.
In manual remote mode the valve can be opened and closed from the
GCP.

Purpose The lube oil measuring device measures the lube oil filled to the service
tank.
Properties The flow meter is engine related and connected to the EAP. It sends out a
pulse signal to calculate the amount of lube oil passing through the flow
meter for filling the lube oil service tank and displaying the total amount of
refilled lube oil. Additionally, the flow meter is equipped with a local
indication to show the overall lube oil delivery to the engine.
The total flow is indicated at the plant control system as non-resettable
totalizer and additionally as resettable counter.
Purpose The oil mist eliminator instrumentation enables the operator to monitor the
system parameter.
Properties Several instruments are installed at the module and connected to EAP.
The following instruments are installed on the module:
