c) From the figure find the value of ‘x‘. Give reasons for your answer.

a) A 16 cm wide rectangle has an area of 416 cm . Find its perimeter.
b) The pie – chart shows the distribution of people living in 4 blocks of a building complex.
The total number of residents is 180. Answer the following:
i) How many people live in Block D?
ii) Which block has the greatest number of residents? How many people live there?
iii) If 25% of the residents are children, how many are children?

a) Three angles of a triangle are x, 4x, 5x. Find the angles of the triangle. Also name the
triangle according to the value of the angles.
b) Solve for x : 3(x – 2) = 2 (x + 1) − 3
c) A man buys some clothes for ₹4200.
i) At what price should he sell them to make a profit of 15% ?
ii) if he suffered a loss of 15%, find the selling price .

a) Subtract the sum of 5a2 + a – 3 and a2 – 3a + 7 from 6a2 + a – 2.
b) Find the cost of fencing a rectangular garden 70 m long and 30 m wide at the rate of
₹20 per metre.
c) A = { x : x is a multiple of 2, 10< x < 35}, B = { x : x is a factor of 36, 10 < x< 36 }, C =
{ x : x is a prime number, 10 < x <33 }

a) Find the greatest number which divides 146, 254 and 272 leaving remainder 2 in each
case.
b) i) Represent B = { 6, 12, 18, 24, 30, 36, 42, 48 } in set – builder form.
ii) If C = {set of consonants in the word ‘architecture’}, represent C in roster form and
find n(C).
c) A shopkeeper bought 12 fans for ₹980 each. He sold 6 fans for ₹1035 each and 6 fans
for ₹955 each. Find his profit or loss.

a) Simplify: ∛125 + ∛64
∛216 − ∛27
b) If x = 2, y = −2 , z = 3, find the value of x2 + y2 + z2 – 2xy – 2yz – 2zx

c) Raghu borrowed ₹10400 from a money-lender at 8% per annum simple interest. After
3 years, he gave ₹8531 and a buffalo to clear off his dues. What is the cost of the
buffalo ?

a) Ranu is 8 years older than Raghav and the sum of their ages is 26. Find their ages.
b) For the sets P = { 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 } and Q = { 2, 4, 6 } find n(P), n(Q), n(P∩Q).
Also find n(P) + n(Q) – n(P ∩ Q).

c) The sides of a rectangular plot of land are 30 m and 20 m. What should be the cost of:
i) levelling the plot if the rate is ₹2 per sq. m ?
ii) fencing it at the rate of ₹5.25 per metre.

a) 100 people of a company go to their work places in the following ways:
60 people go in private vehicles, 15 go in public buses, 5 go on bicycles and the rest use
company transport. Draw a pie chart to show this.

toasters for ₹1030 each. Find his profit or loss.

a) Simplify : ∛512 + ∛343

b) If p = 3, q = −5, r = 4 find the value of p2 + q2 + r2 – pq – qr – pr
c) Hari borrowed ₹12600 from a money-lender at 8% per annum simple interest. After 3
years, he gave ₹9526 and a gold ring to clear off his dues. What is the cost of the gold
ring?

a) The total number of students in a school is 1260. If the number of girls is 52 more than
that of the boys, find the number of boys in the school. Also find the number of girls.
b) For the sets A = { 1, 4, 9, 16, 25 } and B = { 1, 8, 27, 64 } find n(A), n(B), n(A∩B).
Also find n(A) + n(B) – n(A ∩ B).
