    The proposed district would include all of Martin

    Springfield, Comfrey, Cobden, Evan and Hanska
    would all remain from Brown County, as would
    Wanda from Redwood County.

    New Ulm and Sleepy Eye would be placed in a new


    legislative district not represented by me, as would
    Morgan, Sanborn, Clements, Lamberton, Revere,
    and Walnut Grove in Redwood County.

    The chair of the redistricting committee had a


    difficult task, and she presented a plan that is fair
    and balanced. It’s been a privilege to get to know
    my current district, and I enjoy representing these
    communities. Also it’s important to remember that
    the House redistricting plan is just a first step in the
    process, and we really have no idea what the final
    result will look like

    While the Legislature is responsible for designing


    the new legislative maps, the governor must sign it
    into law in order for it to take effect. In 2001, the
    legislature and governor could not find redistricting
    compromise, so an appointed panel of judges ended
    up crafting the map that is currently in place.
