The Oregon Home Care Commission (OHCC) maintains an online registry for workers

who have successfully passed a background check and completed all enrollment forms.

Homecare Workers
(HCW) - serve older
adults, people with Personal Support Workers
physical disabilities (PSW) - serve people with
developmental/intellectual
disabilities or mental illness

Employing an independent homecare worker is a private arrangement between the

employer (person needing care, or their representative/family member) and the worker.
It is like hiring an independent contractor to perform a service.

Employer is responsible for contacting, interviewing, hiring,

Considerations

training, managing, and firing the worker. Also responsible for

a backup plan if worker is sick, no-shows, or quits.
Hiring

Duties, schedules, and pay rates are determined between the

employer and worker. Hourly pay can vary and will depend on
care needed.
There may be payroll and/or tax questions, in which case a
financial professional should be consulted.

To search for independent homecare/personal support workers:

 Go to https://or-hcc.org and click on the population you need the worker to serve.
 Select “Click to Register” by New Employer to create an account and access the
registry.
 Complete each tab to find workers who can provide the services you need in your
location. You can specify many different preferences and needs.
 You will receive a list of workers with contact information. Although there may be a
different city listed by their name, they will provide services in the city you indicated.
 You can also post an ad on the last tab to have prospective workers contact you
directly if you choose.

Disclaimer: Although a worker may be listed in this online registry and meet basic
qualifications, there is no guarantee that any given worker has the experience or skills
to provide a certain service to a particular employer. This information is self-reported on
the worker’s application and is not verified by the OHCC.

If you need additional assistance with the Registry call 1-877-867-0077, option 1.
