Industry Profile

Nestle is the leading Food Manufacturing company, which deals with the manufacturing and
sales of food product in Pakistan and many other Companies. As compared to the other
companies in the industry. Which ranks 82 out of 5000 global brands. Where they generate
13.6% profit on their revenue. Nestle ranked 5th largest companies in the world where they are
operating in 81 countries and 522 factories in the world. In Pakistan, where they have 4 factories
which includes Karachi and Islamabad for beverage production and sheikhopura and Kabirwala
multi-brand production

Company Introduction

Nestle was first found in Switzerland. Nestle is the one of the top food manufacturing
companies. It is divided into two parts Milk & Nutrition and Beverages Products. It was founded
in Pakistan in 1988 and start its operation in Lahore which is the headquarter. Where their core
products are Milk Pak, Nestle Drinking Water, Nestle Juices, Nestle Coffee and many more.

Nestle HR Department confirms they have right people for the right job and allot the employees
to their right job. Nestle emphasis on selecting the talent where they can give innovative ideas

Job Analysis Process.

It is the process of defining duties and skills requirement of a job and which type of person
needed for the job.

Methods Used by Nestle for Job Analysis.

1. Employee Interviews
2. Supervisor Interview
3. Expert Panels
4. Questionnaire
5. Observation

Employee Interviews along with supervisor interview are taken because to find out which task
are need to perform the job. This information can be collected through individual and panels
discussion

Questionnaire are filled from the employees and supervisors, within the specific department and
this procedure is done after very 6 months. Whereas the observation method is done by
supervisors to collect the information related specific job analysis. Nestle uses these methods in
which they define the job description and job specification.

helps the employees to work and continue their studies. With these kinds of conditions nestle
builds a mutual relationship and trust within their employees and which tends to better
performance of the company.

Recruitment Process

It is the process of collecting the pool for potential candidate. Nestle provide the service where
ever you apply in the world it is easier to apply at nestle. Nestle uses electronic recruitment
system where they use ATS (automated tracking system) which helps them to find out the
potential candidate for the job.

Nestle uses internal and external sources of recruitment

Internal Sources

Internal sources refer to when the employee vacancy is there. Then the nestle first find out that
there are any internal sources are available because it cause less cost and fastest way to recruit
the employee.
1. Transfer. It is the process where nestle transfer their employees from one job to another
job without any increase in pay, responsibility and status.
2. Promotion. Nestle promotion is based on the employee performance and then they rank
their employees and then promote the deserving employee.

External Sources

Nestle encourages external hiring where company get a new talent and new set of ideas which
helps company in their effectiveness. Which tends to increase in their innovation.

1. Electronic Recruitment. Nestle uses electronic recruitment where they have special portal
for the recruitment. Where they create the pool of candidates.
2. Campus Recruitment. Nestle also encourages on the campus recruitment where they hire
campus ambassador where they can coordinate the students for the current hiring.

Selection Process

Selection process is the important step for the companies for the employees. For the selection of
the employees Nestle uses the electronic testing platform for selecting of employees after the
passing the game or scenario-based testing than the candidate passes through the interview
process. The scenario-based testing in which the test is divided into categories first their mind
test, personality test, intelligence test and last is their academic test.

Training and Development

Training is the short-term learning process which focus on the current job oriented and the
motivation provided by the person where employees are being teach according to their job
responsibilities and role. The main reason is to fulfill the job requirement. Nestle training
program is more focus on the cross-cultural training programs. Nestle provide their training on
the monthly that how they can enhance their skills to be competent in their work. Nestle provide
orientation program for their new employees in order to meet with their employees. Nestle make
a questionnaire for their employees which kinds of trainings they want and through observation
from their supervisors then the information is delivered to the HR department. Nestle uses TNA

(training need analysis) first they find out the need of the training and which knowledge should
be provided to them. If the employees are coming late, we get an information from the employee
than they will give them training of Time Management. After Determining the need they decide
which medium or instrument to train the employees though case study, games other. Mostly
Nestle uses the games and hire trainer to train the employees and then they implement these
things and then evaluate the things whether the trainings give us a positive feedback or not or our
objective of our training is fulfilling or not.

Developing the employees, the long-term learning process which is related to the employee
growth. It is basically the career oriented where employee is trained for future job. In Nestle, this
type of trainings is done by their supervisor. Which means if an employee is working as
Assistant Manager Sales and he has 2years working there than the Area Manager will give them
the trainings about the next promotion. Once the supervisor feels he is ready to be promoted
than, the employee gets the promotion.

Performance Management

It is the process where company evaluate the employee performance which is linked with
company performance. The short-term version is known as Performance Appraisal and for the
long-term it is known as Performance management. Firstly, company uses the Appraisal System
if the problem arises in the system then the company uses the performance management system.

Nestle uses 360 Degree Feedback Appraisal system in which all employees anonymously give
their feedback related to the certain employee. This is the modern technique of performance
appraisal which gives us the detail feedback of employee. Nestle reason to use this method is
every employee give their feedback on different trait e.g. if supervisor give feedback on
communication and co-worker give their feedback on their time management. Which gives a 360
view of employee and which helps the managers to make decision correctly.
Reward Management

Nestle provides both financial and non-financial rewards which salary according to their job
position. Nestle provides competent salaries to their employees and bonuses which is linked with
performance whereas Nestle provides protection of parenthood reward which is indirect financial
rewards which includes holidays for both father and mother holidays of 14 weeks to 6 months to
spend their precious time with their family and which includes flexible working hours whereas
the nonfinancial rewards nestle provides flexible policies, fair treatment and many other benefits
which makes employee motivated related to their job.

Code of Conduct

Code of Conduct are made whether the business is running on the corporate business principle.
These are made for the continuity of ethics and fairness in the company. Nestle never
compromises on the code of conduct if employee misconduct these rules the employee is being
terminated from the job.

Following are the some Nestle code of conduct.

1. Obedience with rules and regulation.


Nestle always bound their employees on their laws. Nestle never compromise on their
laws. Employee should follow the laws provided by the company and their laws are
always governed by Corporate Governance.
2. Conflict of Interest.
It is the situation where employees interest competes with other third-party interest which
creates the problem in Nestle interest. If conflict of interest arises than employee should
consider with their HR manager to resolve their situation.
3. Confidential Information.
Nestle respect their employees to maintain their confidentiality. If someone doesn’t
maintain than company may put penalty and may terminate that employee. This situation
happens in joint ventures with suppliers where they share the information with their
competitors.
4. Discrimination & Harassment.
Nestle respects the employee dignity and its right of every employee to control the
discrimination on any case and physical or mental harassment in any of the cause. If a
employee feels that he/she is being discriminated or harassed than it is duty of employee
to coordinate with the HR manager in order for the corrective action should be taken
against that person.
5. Bribery & Corruption.
Employee should be concern on that by giving or receiving the gifts to the receivers
because it may cause in the criminal activity which cause problem for employee and for
the company.

Conclusion

Human Resource Management is one of the key success factors of the company. Nestle is one
the leading companies in their industry. One of the reasons of the success secret is they never
compromises on their HRM process always gives the opportunity for students and professionals
to work with them and make their career path stronger. This also helps the nestle get their
healthy innovative ideas and implement it and make their company in more competent and
successful in their industry.
