SAMPLE WRITING:
The graph illustrates the literacry rates among male and female residens in the five distinct areas and compares these
figures with the global level within a span of the year 2004.
Overall, Region 6 displayed the highest literacy rates among males and females. Also noticeable is that the higher
percentage of literate men was seen in all the regions and the world average, among which Region 5 and Region 7
witnessed the widest gap between two genders in the year given.
The first four regions had a similar situation in this respect, which was evidenced by the fact that the literacy rates of
men and women were all lower than in the world average, at 65% for men and 58% for women. In this year, Region 1
observed the lowest proportion of literate men, at approximately 49%, whereas the lowest figure for women was found
in Region 2 at just below 40%. In addition, the year 2004 saw the same gender gaps in Region 3 and Region 4, with
the figures for males being 15% higher than their female counterparts.
Turning to the remaining regions, the highest literacy rates among males and femals were recorded in Region 6, with
70% and 60% respectively, which were moderately higher than the rates in the world average. Also, Region 5 and
Region 7 shared the same disparity in the literacy rates with a rate of 65% for males and 42% for females.
