Lesson link
Use after Conversation (p. 11)
Materials
One survey sheet per student
Customize your worksheet by:
• Changing the TV show types.
• Including specific TV shows instead of types.
• Adding other images to represent TV show types.
Set-up (5 minutes)
Divide the class into groups of four. Give one survey sheet to each student. Draw a simplified survey sheet on
the board with the types of TV shows listed.
Have one student come to the front of the class. Write the student’s name in the blank below Student 1.
Ask the student, “What do you think of dramas?” Record the student’s answer by checking the appropriate box.
Procedure (25 minutes)
Have the students write their group members’ names in the blanks below Student 1, Student 2, and Student 3.
Have the students pair off within their groups and interview each other about the types of TV shows on the
survey sheet. Repeat the procedure until each student has interviewed every other student in the group. Have
students work together to tally the results to see which type of TV show is the most popular.
Extension (10 minutes)
Repeat the procedure, this time using TV shows (actual shows, not types) suggested by the class. Have
students tally the results to determine the most popular TV shows in their group or in the entire class.
