and answer the following questions. Write your answers in the boxes provided.

Is this acceptable? Why?

Write your thoughts below.

No, because it is a life-threatening

situation for someone, and the worst
part is that the person he/she described
is also the Philippine president.

Is this acceptable? Why?

Write your thoughts below.

No, since the manner in which he/she

expresses his/her view is not pleasant, and
it also demonstrates that he/she is acting
inappropriately.

Is this acceptable? Why?
Write your thoughts below.

No, since skin color has no bearing on

identifying individuals, and I believe I
believe it is evident that the individual
who submitted this has no awareness of
internet best practices.

Analysis
Think of your answers in the previous activity. The screenshots exposed unethical behaviors in online platforms. These
behaviors are best corrected through the awareness of digital citizenship and netiquette. To widen your understanding of the
lesson, what do you think are the good practices in online platforms? Why do you think should we avoid unethical behaviors
in online platforms? Write your answers in the box below.

What are the general etiquettes for
online communication?

Send your messages to the right place.

Don't copy and forward private messages without the author's permission. This is a
breach of data privacy.

Don't present your opinions as facts. Always acknowledge others' opinions, even when
you disagree, and provide clear, thoughtful support for your views.

Avoid getting involved in flame wars by posting or responding to controversial topics.

Lurk before you leap. Lurking is when you frequently read messages, blogs, wikis, or forums
but do not necessarily contribute. Lurking before leaping means familiarizing first with a
discussion group before becoming an active participant.

Don't flood in messages: flooding occurs when a user posts repetitive messages on a
Your message thread and is very annoying to others. Avoid spamming: this is when you email
unsolicited messages to a large audience.

Check the rules. Most online communities have house rules or FAQs, so search for these
to determine what is allowed and what is not. If you are the creator or owner, you will
need to create one for your site.

Never contribute to illegal or offensive materials. The law relating to written

communication applies equally to online communication. This includes copyright, data
privacy, and cybercrime.

Be mindful of copyrights: Just as copying someone’s writing is considered plagiarizing,

so is the act of using someone else’s photo, comic, joke, or quote without giving proper
credit to its creator or author.
