Answer the following:

1.You are interested in knowing what percent of all households in Kabacan have a single woman
as the head of the household. To estimate this percentage, you conduct a survey with 200
households and determine how many of these 200 are headed by a single woman.

a. What is the population? Answer: Households in Kabacan.

b. What is the sample? Answer: 200 households

2.Of the regions “adult population”, 36% has an allergy. A sample of 1200 randomly selected
adults resulted in 33.2% reporting an allergy.

a. Who is the population? Answer: Region’s adult

b. What is the sample? Answer:1,200 adults

3.Select 150 students currently enrolled at USM-Kabacan and ask how many years they have
attended the university ,how old they are ,and if they live on campus .

a.What is the population ? Answer: Students currently enrolled in USM-Kabacan

b. What is the sample ? Answer:150 students

4.Are cent survey of 2625 elementary school children found that 28%oo the children could be
classified as obese.

a. What is the population ?Answer: Elementary school children

b. What is the sample? Answer: 2625 elementary school children


5. Suppose a 12-year old asked you to explain the difference between a descriptive and
inferential statistics, how would you explain it to him /her?

- I will differentiate to him/her the difference between a descriptive and inferential statistics
that the descriptive focus on describing the visible characteristics of a dataset (a population
or sample), while the Inferential statistics focus on making predictions or generalizations
about a larger dataset, based on a sample of those data.
