¡Hola! Mi nombre es Susana y tengo quince años. Vivo en Barcelona en un apartamento con
mi madre. Cada día me levanto a las ocho de la mañana.Luego voy a la cocina y desayuno.
Suelo tomar una taza de leche con tostadas con mermelada y mantequilla. Después del
desayuno me visto, me lavo los dientes, preparo mi mochila y me voy al instituto. Suelo ir en
autobús. Las clases son desde las 9 hasta las 2:30 de la tarde. Por la tarde hago los deberes
y estudio. Los lunes voy a clases de ballet y los jueves a clases de inglés. Mamá y yo solemos
cenar a las nueve de la noche. Después de la cena vemos la televisión juntas. Nos encantan
las series de misterio. Me suelo acostar a las once de la noche.

Hi, my name is Susana and I’m 16 years old. I live in Barcelona in an apartment with my mom.
Later tonight we are going somewhere. Later we are destroying our kitchen. We are making milk
and tostadas and marmalade with butter. Grandma is coming to visit and helping prepare dinner.
I take a bus to school and classes start at 9 and end at 2:30. If I’m late I have to study more. I am
also in ballet class and English class. Me and my mom eat dinner at 9. I like to watch TV before
bed, I have a series I like and I watch one episode a night. I go to sleep at 11.

The translation make a little more sense now. I’m not very good at critically thinking about what
words make sense where with Spanish. It did help a little bit though because once I know a
couple words I can kind of figure out what the sentence is trying to say, so I might not be able to
fully translate but I get a much better idea.

Hi there! My name is Susana and I am fifteen years old. I live in Barcelona in an apartment with
my mother. Every day I get up at eight in the morning, then I go to the kitchen and have
breakfast. I usually have a cup of milk on toast with jam and butter. After breakfast I get dressed,
brush my teeth, pack my backpack and go to school. I usually go by bus. Classes are from 9 to
2:30 in the afternoon. In the afternoon I do my homework and study. On Mondays I go to ballet
classes and on Thursdays to English classes. Mom and I usually have dinner at nine at night.
After dinner we watch television together. We love mystery series. I usually go to bed at eleven
at night.

My translation was way off, but I got some things correct.

1. It took me probably 10 minutes to try and translate.

2. My initial translation was completely wrong.
3. My translation slightly improved.
4. This activity was very challenging and I was really afraid at how wrong I would be but I
just embraced it. It was fun and useful. I learned some important words and phrases.
