High School, Tacurong City.

MATERIALS AND METHODS

Materials

The materials that will be used in the conduct of the study are the following:
Powdered eggshell tablets, waste acids (diluted oxalic acid, muriatic acids, and
commercial vinegar), and commercial flour as binder.

Equipment and Apparatuses

The equipment and apparatuses to be used in the study are as follows: 27,
250mL beakers, stirring rods, mortar and pestle, spatula, cover glasses, digital pH
meter, camera and digital weighing scale.

Acquisition of Materials and Equipments

Materials such as acids will be purchased from the department stores.

Equipments were borrowed from the school Science Laboratory.

Design and Treatments

The study will utilize Completely Randomized Design or CRD. It will be consisted
of three treatments replicated three times.

T1- 5 powdered eggshell tablets, 200mL waste acids

T2-10 powdered eggshell tablets, 200mL waste acids

T3-15 powdered eggshell tablets, 200mL waste acids

Preparation of the Materials and Equipments

Materials will be collected and purchased from the school canteen and
department stores.

Equipments will be pre-calibrated before the conduct of the study.

Collection and Cleaning of the Eggshells

Eggshells will be collected from the school canteens. It will be cleaned under
running water to removed dirt and other unnecessary materials.

Drying and Pounding of the Eggshells

After cleaning, eggshells will be dried under the sun. As soon as the moisture is
removed, it will be pounded to powder form using mortar and pestle.

Molding into Tablets

The powdered eggshells will be mixed with the commercial flour that will serve as
binder for the tablets. A ratio of 100 grams is to 20 grams flour will be mixed in a beaker.
After mixing, distilled water of 35mL will be poured. It will be mixed to the right
consistency, after it will be molded into tablets using a wooden molder.

Drying of the Tablets

Molded tablets will be dried under the heat of the sun to remove excess moisture.

Preparation of Treatments
200 mL of acids like diluted oxalic acid, muriatic acid and commercial vinegar will
be poured into 250 mL beakers.

Tablets will then be counted and segregated for each treatment.

Data Gathering Procedures

pH of prepared acids will be taken using digital Digital pH Tester Meter Pocket
Pen with a Measuring pH Range: 0.0 - 14.0 pH, Resolution 0.1 pH, Accuracy ±0.1
pH (20°C), ±0.2 pH, Operating Temperature 0 - 50°C (32 - 122°F) and a dimensions
of 152 x 29 x 20mm (5.984 x 1.142 x 0.591 inch) after application of tablets and the
reaction to finished it will be taken again.

Data gathered will be subjected to T-test.
