Unique, daring, brash Editorial Content

The magazine’s unique editorial format features articles about artists written by artists about cutting
edge art and photography. We guarantee a pinch (or more) of attitude and a dash of sass. We promise
to ventilate a few bruised egos, and to grant the ‘unfortunate captivated’ reader a unique, polished
literature with finely rendered and surreal art supplementing touching “art(ist)” photography. You will
find an emotively raw, always enthralling glimpse directly into the front line and established art world,
often via the artist’s turbulent souls. With the dramatic inside stories of HK: ArtiST, elite and
“At the Edge” artists and performers.

Eric “Eyeball” Richardson

About Our Neighborhoods:

Hell’s Kitchen
Hell’s Kitchen is a busy mesh of tourists, theaters, restaurants artists and colorful
locals. Its nickname, which dates to the 1880s, is believed to be referent to terrible
riots that used to take place in the overcrowded tenements of the area when factories
dominated the west side. Hell’s Kitchen (also known as Clinton) began to improve
after the re-development of Times Square.

The Kitchen is a Historic District that is exploding with new art galleries and
theaters, new commercial, art and housing developments like Worldwide Plaza.
The neighborhood overlaps with Broadway and Times Square, yet is built in a
charming 19th Century small scale that retains a strong neighborhood feel.
Phillip Martoglio
Aside from the bustling tourist attractions and Theater Row, Hell’s Kitchen boasts
“Restaurant Row” (W. 46th St, between 8th and 9th Avenues) where one can find any culinary delight imaginable.
Ninth Avenue is a busy walk of shops, cafes artist’s lofts and galleries. W. 51st St, with its brownstones and
quaint rowhomes, evokes a French flavor with many Parisian cafes and bars. This is a neighborhood that is
constantly busy and thriving, be it 4 PM or 4 AM.

Greenwich Village
Greenwich Village is the second oldest Historic District in
New York City built by and still populated by some of the
greatest artists in the world. The Village is a friendly and cutting
edge neighborhood filled with galleries, shops, quaint alleyways
and scores of culture of diversity.

The district is comprised of residential and commercial properties

that are linked together in true neighborhood fashion where
small, owner-operated galleries and boutiques outnumber national
chain stores, lending a small village atmosphere to an otherwise
urban environment.

Midtown East
One of the liveliest business sections in the city, Midtown East offers beautiful new luxury buildings as well
as old world charm. Located between 30th and 59th Streets on the East Side, this area is home to many
corporations such as Met Life and Citicorp as well as the United Nations. The center of Midtown East is
Grand Central Station, which has been magnificently renovated,
and is an architectural marvel lined with shops and restaurants. With
the art deco Chrysler Building illuminating the skyline, every style
of home is available in this neighborhood. New luxury high-rise
buildings are popular among professionals who choose to live close
to work. Townhouses and prewar buildings are also available, with
many in the elegant and upscale Beekman area, located between
49th and 51st Streets from First Avenue to the East River. There are
also reasonably priced studios and one-bedroom apartments located
closer to First and Second Avenues. Despite being one of the busiest
places by day, there is no shortage of nightlife here. Numerous
delicious restaurants, alluring shops, and jazzy local bars keep
residents alive at night.

Times Square
Originally called Longacre Square, in 1904 this neighborhood
became known as Times Square. It is often debated as to whether
it was at the bidding of New York Times owner Alfred Ochs when
the New York Times headquarters were built on 42nd Street where
Broadway and 7th Avenue meet or whether the owners of the
independently owned subways in the neighborhood made the
change happen. Nineteen hundred and four was an important one
in the history of Times Square, as it was then that the first New
Year’s Eve celebration was held there. Over 26 million people visit
Times Square each year, some to attend the areas many Broadway
shows, some to dine, and all experience the glowing lights and
energy of this famed area.
