STANDARD LESSON PLAN FORMAT
I. Describe the Class
th
This is a 5 grade class with 18 students, with 3 ADD/ADHD students, 1 learning
disabled.

II. Subject/Skill:
History: Show casing Ancient Egypt

III. Objective(s)
Students will be researching ancient Egypt and working in groups to create a presentation
based on their findings.

IV. Procedures
1. Students will learn about ancient Egypt and their way of living. They will learn
architecture of ancient Egypt, clothing and jewelry, food and harvesting of food,
and inventions.
2. Students already know how to run research on their own. Students know how to
identify reliable sources. Students know the lesson creates a new knowledge of
ancient life and how times have changed.
3. I will show the students some pieces of ancient Egypt that are important for
research. (Pyramids, jewelry, mummies, water clock, etc.)
4. After going over important pieces I will ask students for any other pieces they
know already, students may ask extra questions on requirements of project, etc.
5. Students will then break up into groups and begin researching for their projects.
Teacher will walk around monitoring students are on task and answering
questions.

V. Materials
Computers, template, Power Point.

VI. Grouping Structures


Groups of 3, working in classroom, computer lab, each person will have a job in project.
Will use Jigsaw II cooperative strategy and students researching same section of project
they will gather together and share their findings and will not be able to use same
facts/items.
VII. Modifications
For students with ADD/ADHD this is very hands on for them on the computer and I will
provide fidgets for them if needed. For student with learning disability of dyslexia they
could use audio read text to help them better understand text as well as watch videos for
information.

VIII. Assessment
I will ask students about their latest discoveries on ancient Egypt and an important fact
they learned. I will then ask them for homework to tell me why, in an explanation, the
fact they found is important for their research.
