2. General Project Information

General Project Summary

Country Ireland, Irish Sea Codling Wind Park and Codling Wind Park Extension have now been combined to form
Codling Wind Park.
The Project is located in the Irish Sea
Location approximately 13 – 22 km off the east coast of The Project is located in the Irish Sea approximately 13 – 22 km off the east coast of Ireland,
Ireland, at County Wicklow (near Dublin) at County Wicklow. The Codling Project is expected to consist of 70 wind turbine generators
of each 15 MW linked by inter array cables to three offshore substations. Total power is 1 GW.
Project Name Codling Bank Wind Park
Undersea export cables would then carry the electrical energy to two different onshore
Codling Wind Park (50/50 Joint Venture substations(HDD) where it would connect to the Irish grid.
Client / Employer
between EDF & Fred Olsen Renewables)
This Invitation to Tender (ITT) is developed in two Parts:
Employers Part 1 – FEED scope of work, including the FEED & Cooperation Agreement

5. Tender Strategy

Tender Strategy - Equipment

 Vessels:
 Aeolus or Svanen (MP “base case concept design”) - Alternative design preferably be installable by Aeolus → otherwise Boreas or Svanen
 Aeolus or Adventure (TP) → Fast Trade off (for the case Svanen will not utilised)
 Nexus or Calypso (IAC) → Fast Trade off
 Nexus or Calypso (EXP) → Fast Trade off
 Boreas (Topside) → Fast check suitability
 Trenching Dig-It Special Area
 Beach Landing barge or beaching vessel? of Conservation

 Beach Landing concept to be evaluated

 Reducing the noise levels and comply with NPWS Noise Guidelines. Special Protection Area
 Assessment of environmental conditions (especially high currents)

PROF-TK-TE-10-Story Line SG Meetings Slides

 Base Harbours to be identified (Belfast?) – Preferably Irish Harbours

Issues of attention:
1. Irish offshore wind sector is starting up (RESS/grid operator issues)
2. Local Content

Rev. 0.0 / Date: 04-09-2020

3. Suitability of available marshalling ports in the area?
4. High current speeds in the area
5. Shallow water depths for foundations & export cable routes
6. Export cable route crosses a sensitive habitat
