inside the box. Find the current through RL where RL = the last two digits of your
Student ID.

2. a. Find the current 𝑖 (𝑡) in the circuit shown in Fig. 3. Also, find the impedance [10]
connected across the source.

b. A balanced three-phase three-wire system has a Y-connected load. Each phase [10]
contains an impedance of R + j50 Ω. Assume positive phase sequence with 𝑉𝑎𝑏 =
400/0° V. Find the following:
i) Phase Voltages
ii) Line Currents
iii) The total power drawn by the load.
(Note: R = the last two digits of your Student ID)
4. a. Describe, with relevant diagrams, the construction and working of a three-phase [10]
synchronous motor.

ii) A shunt generator delivers 450 A at 230 V and the resistance of the shunt
field and armature are 50 ohms and 0.03 ohms respectively. Calculate the
generated emf.
ii) Determine the output voltage, output current, and output power of DC-DC [5]
buck converter for a duty cycle of 80% and with 60% efficiency.
(Note: Input voltage = the last two digits of your Student ID in Volts)
b. With the help of a circuit diagram and waveforms, explain the working of the 3-phase [10]
Voltage-Source Inverter.
